The Whitsunday Islands are renown as one of Australia’s best charter yacht destinations. With 74 islands in the chain, only six of which are inhabited, the Whitsundays offers everything from secluded anchorages to the nightlife of an international resort.

With crystal clear water the colours and scenery are breathtaking and is home to, arguably, one of the worlds most spectacular beaches, Whitehaven, Left, which is comprised of virtually pure white silicon. An overnight stay at Whitehaven is a must, as is a walk on the beach and a swim in the warm tropical water. Exploring nearby Hill Inlet by tender on the top of the tide is another wonderful experience.

If you can drag yourself off your luxury superyacht there are opportunities to eat ashore at a variety of restaurants, certainly Hamilton Island, the largest of the 6 inhabited, is worth the visit as well as the bustling streets of the coastal town of Airlie Beach.

The Whitsundays, in fact, are not part of the Great Barrier Reef, which lie approximately 30 miles to seaward, so cheack that your yacht is licensed to vist there.  If you cant get there, the coral and snorkelling in areas such as Blue Pearl and Butterfly Bay, is as good as any of the reef.

Should you tire of the scenery and secluded coves, the Islands provide plenty of activities to enjoy for all ages including, diving, snorkeling, fishing, scenic helicopter flights, sailing, bushwalks, golf and much more…

The Emerald Lady, left,  is one of the Jack Tar Superyacht Charter yachts that spend the season cruising the islands, use the link to read more on the yacht or click here and scroll down the Australia destination page to see which yachts are available now.

After a hectic day of exploring the islands, when the sun sets spend a memorable night under the stars on your charter yacht. There is no better way to experience the world’s greatest aquarium.
