Role Summary/Purpose
The UX CoE is looking for a Senior UX Design Technologist. This person helps to bring ideas to life. Our team is successful only if GE ships better products and customers are more satisfied. To this end, we need someone who can facilitate the translation of design concepts into working software. You are a fit if you love design, love code and love to deliver great products.
Essential Responsibilities
Act as a member of the UX Center of Excellence, representing the face of high quality design practices. This includes participation in all aspects of UX: research, ideation, strategy, interaction design and visual design.
Be a subject matter expert in the area of design technology and engineering. Stay up to date on current trends in front-end development for web, mobile, desktop and tablet apps.
Translate UX design process for an engineering-driven company. Ensure that engineering teams work efficiently with design teams.
Research and define patterns, toolkits and services that support a well designed user interface on all of GE's software products. Work with various engineering teams to support adoption of these tools.
Build prototypes and proof of concepts (PoC) in order to demonstrate software design concepts. Work with the larger UX team to test prototypes for usability and acceptance.
Manage the “care and feeding” of design systems that are used across the global GE organization.
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Design or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math)
A minimum of 7-10 years of professional experience in modern web app technologies: HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, JSON, LESS, JQuery, MVC and hands-on experience with some back-end technology: eg. Java, PHP, Ruby
OR Master’s degree with 5 years of experience in modern web app technologies: HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, JSON, LESS, JQuery, MVC and hands-on experience with some back-end technology: eg. Java, PHP, Ruby
