The news seems to be filled with sadness this week (even more so than usual), and this teen suicide is equally tragic. Grant Thompson, who was 18 and lived in Texas, committed suicide this week after letting his pet poisonous monocled cobra bite him repeatedly.
The teenager, who had a history of suicidal thoughts, was found dead in his SUV after deciding to end his life back in July. Grant has a passion for exotic animals and worked in the family pet shop, which adds even more to the tragic nature of his death. Speaking about her son, Grant’s mother Seleese Thompson-Mann said:
“Animals were a passion of his.
“When he was 4, he got his first big fish tank. We had an animal-themed birthday party. I had a zoo out in Austin bring in animals. From then, he was hooked.”
