Hello Friends, you have seen my Farm Crossing “version 1″ that made cover quilt in the latest Australian Quilters Companion issue (#64). Click here if you aren’t sure what I am talking about. Today, I am sharing with you my Farm Crossing “version 2″. It’s funny how sometimes my quilts, though different, end up being named the same names at the editorial level.
Farm Crossing “version 2″ is featured in the December 2013/January 2014 issue of The Quilter magazine. So, version 1 will now be called my “Australian Farm”, and version 2 my “American Farm”. Below, you see the photo of “American Farm”.
Both my Farms, Australian and American, used fabrics from the same fabric line – Lynette Anderson‘s Mending Fences, released by Lecien. As I had said, my adventures with Lynette Anderson just keep on happening!
With the quilt fabrics being from Mending Fences, I just had to take American Farm to a place with lots of fences for the photo shoot.
American Farm focuses on simple blocks – but colored differently to create a soothing and harmonious visual effect. You like the “orderly plots” I have in my farm?
I crosshatch-quilted the quilt center using Aurifil Mako 50 Cotton thread over Hobbs Tuscnay silk batting. I like the look of simplicity from crosshatching the farm-themed quilt.
I borrowed the cute little flower idea on the border fabric to quilt something similar on the border. Can you sort of tell I used a light pink thread?
If you like the quilt, you will be happy to know that the pattern is offered as a free download on The Quilter’s website. Click here to download the complete quilt instructions. Click here to purchase fabrics.

And yesterday I shared with your my “Australian Farm“ quilt, featured in Australian Quilters Companion. Click here for more information.
You know how mothers often marvel at how different their children are from one another. That’s exactly how I feel about these three Mending Fences quilts. Each is different even though each features fabrics from the same fabric line, and I love each of them!
Thanks for stopping by! Now curious mind wants to know if you grew up on a farm. I have always found country/farm living fascinating – especially after reading Enid Blyton’s farm stories as a kid.
