Anniversary of the GI Bill

President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the GI Bill into law on June 22, 1944. Many revisions have been made to the bill since its inception. Most recently, in 2008, the GI Bill was updated to allow veterans with active duty service on or after Sept. 11, 2001 to receive more than just an education. This bill also covers a living allowance and money for books. Veterans can also transfer the education benefits to spouses or children. Click here to learn more about the history of the GI Bill.

To make it easier for veterans and their families, many colleges and universities now have the Yellow Ribbon program. This program allows veterans or their family members to get the additional funds needed to cover all educational funds.
