Establishing itself as one of the sought after solutions providers in Ahmadabad was a tedious task for Magic Systems as there was little or no awareness about the Information Security business in the IT arena in 1997. Having started his business with a mere capital of INR 2 lakhs, Gautam Verma, Director, Magic Systems had to face many challenges to survive in the business. With a focused approach only on Information Security business, Gautam hardly managed to survive at the initial stages due to the nascent development of IT infrastructure at that time. However, determined to make a mark in the industry, Gautam developed a matured outlook, developed products in Information Security, and tied with OEMs. He started making products for enterprise customers while understanding their requirements and at the same time educating them on Information Security.

It was only when Gautam picked up his first deal after 7 months of starting the company, and cornered some  good accounts like Times of India and Bayer Radius Ltd. a German company, he got enough confidence to move forward to expand the business.

What is the focus of Magic Systems?

We are still focusing on Information Security as a core business. We are bridging technology gap in this arena where information security is more important, and helping our clients to bridge the gap of technology as well. We are providing networking security solutions, which enable fast communication and reliable networks.

What are the trends you are seeing in the industry?

We are addressing the Gujarat market and due to Narendra Modi’s stature and his good work for Gujarat, we have been successful in moving our business forward. Today lot of companies are investing in the state, MNCs companies too are willing to invest in the IT business which is creating huge opportunities for us. Our product portfolio is catering to the enterprise and Gujarat is becoming an enterprise market now. Besides, there are new technological requirements that are coming. The industry is in the phase of consolidation and is adopting cloud technology. We are seeing lot many solutions like cloud, mobility being adopted by the companies.

What are the solutions and services being provided by Magic Systems? How are you different from the market?

We are providing complete end to end solutions in Information Security which covers anti-virus, firewall and UTM, Web security, SSL VPN, WAN Optimisation, DLP and Encryption, Link/Server Load Balancing, Proxy and Catching, NAC Solution.

From first day in business, we were clear in our focus on technical support and post sales support. We give all our enterprise customers   technical support and service support, which are the pain areas of the customers. Whenever we are approaching any customer we never compromise on technical front.

Do you see any particular vertical contributing maximum to your growth?

From our perspective, I thank to all my customers who are with me over the last 10 years.  They are from different verticals like banking, cement, fertilizer, metering companies, BPOs.  All my existing customers have contributed to our growth.  I see banking and metering companies contributing more to our growth.

What is your Go to Market strategy and your expansion plans?

Our GTM is to increase our presence in the market, introduce technology to customers. We are also planning to enter into some other states with new team, especially in some parts of Rajasthan and MP so we want to penetrate more in those regions.  We may also add more verticals to our portfolio by next fiscal year, with server and storage solutions added to our existing portfolio.

What technologies do you think the market should focus on?

The market should focus on Web Application security, WAN optimization, and mobile security because enterprise customers are adopting ERP, SAP solutions and they have multiple locations and are in the phase of consolidation. I believe that WAN optimisation is necessary for enterprises that have multiple locations.

Which of your principals would you like to talk about?

I am associated with 13-14 principals and I am equally focusing on all of them. The top 5 OEMs who are giving good business to us at present are Checkpoint, Trend Micro, Cyberoam, and Watchguard.
