Dr. Karl Wang will join International Technological University (ITU) as Director of Industrial Relations and Core Faculty Electrical Engineering Professor. Dr. Wang has more than thirty years of industry experience in product research and development puts him in a position to expand ties between ITU’s growing research programs and Silicon Valley’s most innovative companies and industries.

Dr. Wang will connect ITU’s existing industry relevant educational curriculum with his more than three decades of experience in managing research and development teams at in the U.S., Taiwan and China. He has led international teams at world leading hi-tech companies such as Hitachi, Motorola, Silicon Motion, ARM, Texas Instruments and UMC.

A leading educator in the field of Electrical Engineering and Computer Architecture, Dr. Wang was the Laspa Professor of Electrical Engineering Practice at Harvey Mudd College and was instrumental in developing project-based teaching methods in embedded system designs offering students hands on industrial learning experiences, a cornerstone of ITU’s educational philosophy. He has published 22 technical papers with 20 patents and several more pending. He served as committee chairman in two IEDMs and a VLSI Circuit Symposium. His Ph.D. and M.S. in EE are from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA, and he received his B.S. in EE, from Rice University, Houston, TX.

Dr. Wang will begin serving as Director of Industrial Relations and Core Faculty Electrical Engineering Professor in September 2013. Besides strengthening ITU’s ties to industry leaders in Silicon Valley, his teaching methodology will emphasize the latest design technology encouraging students to form close partnerships between academia and industry. Dr. Wang’s experience will be a highly valuable addition to the already distinguished team of ITU’s Electrical Engineering Department Faculty.
