When it comes to high quality photos, what’s the first thing we think of? a DSLR! Isn’t it? I have been a huge fan of DSLR cameras and have used them extensively in the last two years for all my blogging and business needs. But guess what’s the most popular camera in the world? You got it – its the iPhone camera. For the last 10 months (ever since I got an iPhone), I’ve been experimenting a lot with iPhone photography and I can safely and surely say I am in LOVE.

So what about using an iPhone for your blog and business needs? If you are anything like what I was an year ago, you are probably shaking your head in disagreement. But hang in there! I love my DSLR, but here are 8 reasons why you should be using your iPhone to click photos for your blog and Instagram!

This post is not to convince you to stop using your DSLRs ( I love using mine) , its just to explore the brilliant possibilities of using an iPhone to capture high quality photos.

Zero cost:

Something that makes Photography a scary passion to pursue is the expensive gear that it requires. A high quality camera, lenses, accessories etc. can all quickly add up to dig a hole in your pocket. But if you are using an iPhone, there really is no (extra) cost to start clicking high quality photos with it. You already have the equipment, you just need to learn to use it effectively!

Easy to carry, Easy to use:

Imagine having to carry a DSLR everywhere you go? If you are big on posting photos on Instagram, you know exactly what I’m talking about. The bulkiness and weight of DSLR’s makes it hard to carry them everywhere we go. On the other hand, your iPhone is super lightweight , fits in your pocket and is something that you already carry with you everywhere. Now if you want to click pictures of your food in a restaurant, to click pictures of a beach sunset during your travel or to just click pictures of beautiful flowers you see on a long drive – its easy! Just pull out your iPhone and snap away. iPhone makes it super easy to capture pictures on the go without the hassle of carrying heavy, bulky equipment.

High resolution + quality:

Now you might be thinking – but what about the image quality? I am not going to argue. Technically speaking, a DSLR definitely performs better than an iPhone. But let’s be honest here. Just using a DSLR doesn’t promise you great photos, does it? Whatever the tool may be, how you use it determines the quality of your photos. So if you learn how to use the iPhone camera well, you are most probably going to be taking better photos than most people do with a DSLR.

Also, what makes a DSLR better than an iPhone camera is its larger sensor and ability to take good photos even in low light situations. So in good lighting, photos you take with your iPhone are not much different from the ones you take on your DSLR.  So you can definitely achieve super high quality photos with your iPhone as well.

Can be expanded into a DSLR:

Now what if I said you could potentially turn your iPhone camera into a DSLR? Yes you can! With the help of certain apps and accessories [ that we are going to discuss in another post soon] you can equip your iPhone camera with the superpowers of a DSLR. You can attach amazing, powerful lenses to your iPhone to increase the photo quality. Also apps like Camera+ and Pro Camera 7 add many controls to your iPhone camera that make it comparable to a DSLR. Apart from this, there are also several photo editing apps available for iPhone that can process your iPhone photos to the same level as of a DSLR.

Easy to learn:

While the insane number of settings and controls of a DSLR (most of which you’ll not use at the beginning) can be intimidating, the iPhone camera has an easier learning curve, making it the perfect choice for beginners. The iPhone camera is simple and straight forward to learn and is one of the best ways to understand the basics of photography without being overwhelmed by the high level, advanced stuff.

Quick and instant photos:

Lets say you spot this beautiful sunset and want to capture the colors of the sky in a photo. Now by the time you open, switch on and set up your DSLR – the sunset would have probably be long gone. When you are using a DSLR, you need to be a lot more planned which makes it almost impossible to take photos spontaneously. With an iPhone you can click photos in an instant. The setup time is almost zero, you can go from your pocket to a photo within a few seconds.

The iPhone is the most popular camera in the world:

I mentioned before that the iPhone is the most popular camera used in the world. Yes, its official. Flickr (one of the largest photo sharing communities) released data about the most used camera by its members and the results are here for you to see. The iPhone emerges a clear winner and is here to stay.

Huge community:
