She started with a sexy and saucy image in her initial films. That was the time when shedding clothes was the success mantra for girls. She put the hotness stamp in her very first film, but actingwise, she first got noticed in Aitraaz, where she played a vamp. Her character over shadowed that of the female lead, and people could only talk of Priyanka and her sizzling chemistry with Akshay Kumar. She entered the big league and big and better films followed. But that one career defining performance was still not happening. And then finally came the Fashion, Dostana, Kaminey series. Fashion gave her a national award and she became the youngest Hindi film heroine to get one. Dostana was her ticket to one of the biggest production house and Kaminey further cemented her acting credentials.
Today, she is a part of one of the biggest movie franchise ‘Krrish’, has a strong hold at the box office, and one of the most popular Indian celebrity on Facebook and twitter. Also, whatever doubt people had in their minds about her acting skills were washed away by Anurag Basu’s ‘Barfi’, where she made the character of a mentally challenged girl seem so effortless. She was brilliant in the film, and sometimes even overshadowed the genius of Ranbir Kapoor. Experience definitely scored over talent.
Currently, she has her one foot in India and one in LA. She opened the NFL with her debut song, is the only Asian girl to have been signed as the brand ambassador of ‘Guess’. But all this doesn’t stops her from giving blockbuster hits here. The term ‘Desi Girl’ has become synonymous with her. As a person, it’s difficult to describe Priyanka Chopra. She seems to be a girl-next-door who became very successful. Her demeanor, attitude and the way which she carries herself never seems to be that of a superstar. It might be because she has had her share of humble background and a normal Punjabi family and upbringing, and that is the thing her fans love the most about her.
