I know, I know – detox shmetox

But hey, there is no harm in adding a little bit of healthy into your day, especially when it’s mega easy. These 5 tips are easy, every day achievable changes so that you can feel healthier with minimal effort. Whether you do one or all 5, every little helps so make that little change to give your body that little extra boost.

1. HAVE A COLD SHOWER (OR JUST THE LAST 5 MINUTES IF YOU CAN’T TAKE IT!)

I know – eeek right? But seriously, it’s good for you.

Your body will work to raise it’s temperature against the cold water, which increases your metabolism. Cold water also gives you shiny hair by making the cuticles of your hair lie flatter so it will reflect more light and glowing skin by encouraging blood to rush to the surface – Jennifer Aniston swears by splashing her face in cold water, well it’s the same thing, just for your whole body.

Of course the cooler temperature will also wake you up much quicker, snapping you out of that sleep walking state feeling fresh and alive to start your day with a spring in your step.

2. START YOUR DAY WITH HALF A SQUEEZED LEMON JUICE IN A GLASS OF WATER

Lemons have a ridiculous number of healthy vitamins that boost the immune system and balances your pH levels, but starting your day with half of one squeezed in a glass of water will also aid your digestion for the day.

The antiseptic qualities also help with that morning breath!

3. EAT THREE FULL MEALS

So many people thing that eating less is more, but that is not the case. If you try and eat to small a meals without enough protein and fats (*healthy fats) then you’re more likely to snack, eating more calories, and most likely nasties, than you would have had you had a larger meal. Having 3 full healthy meals a day will get your body into a rhythm with it’s digestion as well as reducing those hunger cravings through out the day. It wont happen over night, but do a trial for 10 days and see if you’re cravings have subsided.

*Healthy fats: avocado, nuts, fatty fish… for more info on good & bad fats check out THIS really useful article

4. SWITCH TO DARK CHOCOLATEWhat? Chocolate? Yes – but dark, and I’m talking 70% dark.

The darker the chocolate, the higher the levels of cacao, one of the best sources of antioxidants. Dark chocolate is also richer to taste, so when you’re having that sweet craving at the end of a meal, one cube will hit the spot, rather than gobbling down a whole bar.

(pssst – buy a brand where the cubes are thin but wide so you feel like you’re having a larger piece of chocolate. Sounds silly but honestly, one segment and my sweet fix is, well fixed!)

5. CAMOMILE TEA BEFORE BED

Going to bed relaxed will help aid a sound nights sleep which in turn allows your body to recalibrate, ready for tomorrow. Camomile not only aids insomnia and relaxation, it will also help you reduce your last meal.

Well that’s it from me – have you got any other easy peasy health tips to share? If so leave me a comment below!

Keep happy and keep healthy everyone!

P.S. Always stay hydrated, especially in these summer months. I always keep a mini bottle of water in the fridge that I keep topped up to take with me when I’m heading out on the tube in London
