Must-Have Mobile Phone Apps For Students. To find out what the most popular apps students like to download are to assist them with their everyday lives, read on.

Students and young people in general are obsessed with their mobile phones these days, and many can’t get off them for more than a few seconds at a time. Not only do mobiles control their emails, phone calls, internet access, SMS alerts and other forms of communication, but they also provide a huge range of apps that are both useful and fun to use.

To find out what the most popular apps students like to download are to assist them with their everyday lives, read on.

1) iStudiez Pro

Students are notoriously bad at keeping up to date with their calendars, and it is important they remember what times their lectures are and when deadlines are due. That’s why iStudiez Pro is particularly good, as it provides users with calendars, reminders and task managers. Therefore, students will always know what they need to do and when.

2) Blackboard

Lots of universities encourage their students to download the Blackboard app, which is an online platform to provide work to university attendees. Course information and assignments can be opened through the application, so students can easily access their work while on the move or at home. This also saves students from having to carry all their course materials.

3) Dropbox

An activity nearly all students get involved in is taking lots of photos, in which case Dropbox is a great app to have as it allows users to share their favourite pics with other members. It’s not just a photo-sharing device though, and you can swap all kinds of files between devices through the app. Therefore, you could send your friend some university notes if they haven’t received them!

4) Snapchat

This free app has surged in popularity over the last few months, with the majority of students now having this on their device. It works by allowing members to send videos and pictures to their friends, which are then deleted after a few seconds. This means they can only be seen for a short period of time and cannot be saved or shared on friends’ phones, so images are often ruder, funnier and more controversial than normal picture messages!

5) Skype

Skype is a must-have app for students who live away from home in university student accommodation. Using their phones, you can have a video conversation with your friends and family, so they can see you while having a chat.

It’s very popular as it uses internet connections, so if you have loved ones who live overseas, you don’t have to spend lots of money speaking to them on your phone and watch your monthly bills increase. Instead, you can enjoy free conversations through Skype, and feel closer to the person/s you are speaking to.

6)   Shazam

Young people are perhaps the most connected group with new music trends and upcoming bands, which is why Shazam is so popular with students. It works by enabling mobile phone users to switch on their Shazam app while listening to a song they are unfamiliar with; within seconds, the application will tell you who the artist is and what the song is called.

This is great for people who like to find out about new songs, bands and singers, as they can be among the first to know about new music before it comes on to the charts.

7) MoneyBook

One of the biggest challenges students face is keeping on top of their finances, so this app allowing them to track their spending and manage their budget is the ideal solution. MoneyBook is available on Apple devices, and enables users to input their income (or student loan) and transactions, calculate their expenses, see how much of their budget is left and look at graphs of their financial output.

With this app, students will hopefully be able to stay on top of their finances – and know when they need to cut back on their spending!

8) eBay

One way students can help themselves save money if they have to buy things is to look for them on eBay. The auction site app means users can easily bid on their favourite items, watch what they are bidding on and get the latest updates on things they are interested in.

It also means those who put their belongings on the website to sell can easily do so, enabling them to earn some money while at university!

9) Camscanner

A work-related app, Camscanner is great as it allows people to take photos of documents they want before they are saved as a PDF or text file. This means you don’t have to wait in long queues at the university photocopier and have endless sheets of paper floating around your room, as all the documents you may need can be ‘photographed’ on to your phone and stored there for you to access easily.

10) Wi-Fi Finder

Of course, the whole point of smartphones is to be able to access the internet on your handheld device; and if you want to do this without spending a lot of money on your mobile phone bills, you’ll need to access Wi-Fi connections.

The Wi-Fi Finder works by finding the nearest public Wi-Fi spots you can use, whether you’re in the UK or on your travels. This is great for students who want to access their apps or the web but don’t want to receive hefty internet charges for doing so.
