I’ve come to terms with the fact that the words Britain and summertime will always have a touch of irony. I try not to let the lack of vitamin D and sunshine affect my mood so instead I rely on my bright nail art and equally bright clothing (I’m a sucker for a white outfit) to lift my moods. When I opened my inbox and saw the SS14 collection from Monreal London my heart lifted – yes, I’m easily pleased, that’s a good thing!
Sports luxe is definitely here to stay. The collection features functional high-tech performance fabrics from Italy, with plenty of stretch and UV 50+ filter, the “made in Portugal” collection is designed to be supportive and feminine, with inbuilt sports bras that have removable cups for a body-beautiful silhouette. Designer Stefanï Grosse was inspired by the turquoise waters and green palms trees of the Caribbean. She said, “I was thinking about packing my suitcase for a mid-winter getaway to the Caribbean and dreaming of warm, moonlit tropical nights, crystal clear water, golden sands and lush palm trees,” Stefani said of her inspirations. “I love an active holiday – swimming in the ocean, games of tennis and sunset cocktails – so I wanted to create a collection that is so stylish and versatile that you would also want to wear it off the court, exploring the town and markets in flip-flops, or for drinks in heels.”
