None of this matters; the next book want come out until after the fatass croaks and then after his estate gets done squabbling with the publisher and then it's going to have to ghost written. This will probably take at least another decade and by then no one is going to give a shit about any of this. Fatass's legacy is going to be his failure at finishing his own series and a tv show that, trust me, isn't going to hold up. The DVDs of the first three seasons sit on my self and collect dust because I have no desire to rewatch them.
The only positive thing that will likely come out of this whole asoiaf thing is that fatass's books will influence a competent writer to write something decent that's highly influence by asoiaf.
Getting back on topic, fatass probably had an idea of what to do with Benjen, but he's probably forgotten or doesn't give a shit. Benjen is a character, and fatass has no more use for characters, just sterile, emotionless, cash grab, fake history bullshit, unless it's Tyrion and then it's a mastabatory exercise in how many clever things that a douchebag who acostes your girlfriend at the ren fair might say.
