DALLAS, TX – The Container Store, the nation’s originator and leading retailer of storage and organization products, debuted its 66th store opening in Cranston (Garden City Center) on Saturday, May 17th.  As part of the retailer’s commitment to its local communities, The Container Store took great pride in donating a percentage of its Grand Opening weekend sales to Crossroads Rhode Island, making a contribution totaling $16,000.

Saturday’s Grand Opening definitely created a buzz as the place to be with shoppers outside the store in anticipation of the doors opening.  The first in line was The Container Store’s Rhode Island-area Super Fan, Lucy Hanna, who received her own gold shopping cart decorated with Super Fan flags and signs. Lucy submitted the winning entry for The Container Store’s Super Fan contest that asked area customers why they considered themselves worthy of Super Fan status.  In addition to being first in the store on Grand Opening day, her Super Fan prize package included a $250 gift card, a box full of products from The Container Store, her own crown and sash to wear on Grand Opening Day and an invitation to the Private Preview Party on Thursday evening!   The weekend continued with thousands of customers filling the store to be amongst the first to shop from Garden City Center’s hottest new retail store!

The storage and organization retailer’s 25,000 square foot store filled with 10,000 products to organize every area of your life provided the perfect backdrop for a Private Preview Party on Thursday, May 15th in collaboration with Crossroads Rhode Island supporters.  Around 1,300 guests enjoyed perfectly chilled champagne and lavish hors d’oeuvres from La Fête Catering, all of which were served out of The Container Store’s products, and they danced to music by Night Shift Entertainment.  Floral arrangements were prepared by Table & Tulip.

Among those in attendance were Anne Nolan, President & Chief Executive Officer, Crossroads Rhode Island, Karen Santilli, Chief Marketing & Strategy Officer, Crossroads Rhode Island, Peter Kilmartin, Rhode Island Attorney General and Cranston Mayor Allan Fung.  Melissa Reiff, President & Chief Operating Officer for The Container Store, welcomed all attendees and thanked Crossroads Rhode Island for all of their support and efforts in getting the store ready for its Grand Opening. Nolan followed Reiff’s opening remarks by welcoming The Container Store to the community.  Members of the The Container Store’s Vice President team were also in attendance at the event.

“Partnering with Crossroads Rhode Island has been an incredible honor for our company,” said Reiff.  “They are truly invested in the entire Rhode Island community. We couldn’t have found a better match – and it’s an organization we know that our local customers and employees are passionate about.”
