Welcome to our newest weekly segment, Sim Rig Sundays, where we will be featuring some of the great racing setups you guys have shown us in our forums. Every Sunday, we’ll pick a rig that we feel stands above the rest, and feature it on our site.

To kick things off, we have an awesome setup, made by new forum member Tom Van Put, who took the interior of an BMW E46 3-series, and converted it into a purpose-built chassis for sim racing. This guy put a ton of effort into it, with some of the craziest things going on behind the scenes.

You’d be forgiven for thinking that he was using a Clubsport Wheel at first glance, but that actually is a custom built BMW rim, from SimRacnWheels, for the Logitech G27. The wheel is also adjustable, using a R-Seat RS Smarty, to adjust the wheel’s angle and height.

He also uses a set of Fanatec Clubsport Pedals V1, with DSD Tilton Pads on the brake and clutch.

Tom also did a bang up job wiring extra buttons into the setup. He was going for the feel of being in an actual race car, and these buttons definitely add to the immersion factor. He wired all the buttons to a Leo Bodnar Joystick Board.

The center console has been converted to a keyboard and mouse tray, to give easy access to them. You can also see the amp used for his Buttkicker at the bottom of the shot.

This rig is a true example of Sim Racing Art, where you can see Tom’s love for racing through this creation. This is one of the coolest conversion cockpits I have seen, and it’s definitely worth the highlight.

You can check out his thread in our forums for some more information, and to give Tom some well-deserved props!

We’re definitely looking forward to see your guys’ setups, and we hope you enjoy this segment!
