Overclockers UK have recently announced a UK based VR sim racing competition series that is 100% focused on VR sim racing! Partnering with several heavyweight hardware manufacturers like Microsoft, XFX, Intel, HTC, Thrustmaster, Project CARS and Next Level Racing, OcUK have designed the competition series to be run as a head-to-head battle for the chance to travel to ex F1 driver, Jonathon Palmer’s Bedford Autodrome. The talented / lucky winners will have the opportunity to get behind the wheel of some very quick real world machinery such as the Ariel Atom, Palmer Jaguar JP-LM and Formula 3000!

UK residents wishing to enter the competition series will be able to book their slot at the OcUK HQ, where they can set a time using the above mentioned equipment, which includes the HTC Vive HMD. People posting the top times will then take part in quarterly qualifiers held at the Bedford Autodrome, with the finals scheduled for early 2017.

All entrants have 20 minutes running time, with a 10 minute pause for driver swapping. Participants should note that they will have to arrive on time in order to get their full runs in. Beginning with a few practice laps, players will have the opportunity to get to grips with the car and circuit that will be used for the competition.

Practice completed, players move onto timed laps and a running tally will be kept on all times posted. Players making the cut will be notified and invited to take part in the qualifier to decide who will be going through to the Series Final. The Series Final will be held in 2017 – with each quarterly qualifier victor advancing to prove who is the overall champion. Certainly sounds like a very cool competition, with perhaps the ultimate prize for a true motorsports lover and sim racer! If you are in the UK and are thinking of entering, let us know here in the comments section how you get on in the competition.

OcUK’s Terms and Conditions For Entering The Competition:

Competitors must be over the age of 21 and have held a full UK driver’s license for a minimum of 1 year. Weight and height restrictions apply – competitors must be under 18 Stone (115 KG), and between 5′ – 6′ 4″ (153 cm – 193 cm) due to vehicle restrictions. Those who attend the Bedford Autodrome will be required to sign a consent form, and must wear appropriate footwear and clothing. Competition winners cannot substitute or trade their place with any other person.
