Blockfeed right now is a US and New York only based affair but it does hyper local news better than anyone else right now and with over 14,000 geolocated news stories they should be pretty pleased. Blockfeed launched on iOS five weeks ago to much acclaim and the creators are hoping for a repeat with the new Android version.

The idea behind the app is that it will aggregate lots of local news, reported from local blogs, media and people out and about. It really does provide news at a really local level.

Clicking on a news story will open up the content in an internal browser, and you can even see where this story and others around you are originating from on a very newsy retro map. As I mentioned above, Blockfeed is for New York right now but the team plan to introduce news cities very soon. Whether little old Ireland gets in on the game is unknown but lets hope so, and when it does we will be right there with all the best local tech news.
