I know Sleepy Hollow looks goofy… But sometimes I like goofy TV. So, based on the above trailer– I was completely sold.
Then here comes Comic Con and the Network starts running these banner ads:
Sleepy Hollow– from the writers of… Star Trek and Transformers?
So the San Diego Movie, TV (and Comic) Con comes to town and now your new selling point for this series is the guys who wrote some incredibly horrible Toy Movies– then made millions directly rewriting old Star Trek TV Shows and Movies for two “new” Star Trek movies?
Why not hype them as the creators of the wonderfully trippy TV show Fringe? Or the writers of the quality Mission Impossible 3? Hell, how about their writing many episodes of the much geek-loved ALIAS… Or even as the talent behind the frickin’ Hawaii 5-O reboot? (Come on, even Hawaii 5-O is better than Transformers.)
Sleepy Hollow creators Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman are decent writers. At least they “get” the “geek” in geeky properties… And working for Michael Bay on some toy-based movies was never gonna turn out well.
What an ad fail. Any self-respecting Geek dislikes Transformers and is perfectly fine with the original Star Trek movies with the original cast… So Fox– next time you want to hype a product at Comic Con, you might want to flog the QUALITY GEEK STUFF your creators are associated with.
When is Hollywood going to understand that GEEK = INTELLIGENCE?
Fanboys and Geeks are not the same thing.
