What is now called the Democratic Party has finally evolved into the Socialist Democratic Party, having been working towards this end since around 1856. Most uninformed Democrats do not know the facts or roots of the Democratic Party from 1856 to now. The picture is not good for the so-called work to help the poor. As a matter of fact, it can be stated that the Democratic Socialist Party of today has held poor people down to ensure they voted Democratic.

In 1856 the new Republican Party mobilized around opposition to slavery and ran its first presidential candidate, California U.S. Senator John C. Fremont. Four years later, owing to a party schism that put two rival Democrats on the ballot, Republican Abraham Lincoln was elected President by a plurality and led the Union during the Civil War.
In 1860, the Democratic Party, after years of promoting slavery, met its demise from Abraham Lincoln. Contributing editor of The American Spector Jeffrey Lord, who is also a former aide to both Jack Kemp and Ronald Reagan, chronicled what the Democrats did from 1800 to 1960.
How many would ever want to believe that seven Democratic presidents owned slaves from 1800 to 1861? Yes, that was shown through several sights, with a total of 12 presidents that owned slaves.
(See here, here, here, and here)
4 Different sites give the same names of the 12 who owned slaves: 7 were democrats. Guess the Democrats back then didn't care who they owned—kind of like today, where the manipulate people to vote for them to keep the "free" stuff that is not free.
Going back to the facts obtain and documented by Mr. Lord, we find that Democrats held the poor people, especially the blacks, down for their own benefit.

Seven Democrat presidents owned slaves between 1800 and 1861.
Between 1840 and 1860, there were six Democratic Party platforms supporting slavery.
From 1868-1948, there were 20 Democratic Party platforms that either openly supported segregation or were silent on the subject.
The infamously racist "Jim Crow laws" of the post-Civil War era -- mandating segregation in virtually all public settings throughout the South -- were passed enthusiastically by Democrats.
In the post-Civil War era, the Democratic Party and the Ku Klux Klan had a very close relationship. Columbia University historian Eric Foner writes that the Klan became "a military force serving the interests of the Democratic Party." And according to University of North Carolina historian Allen Trelease, the Klan served as the "terrorist arm of the Democratic Party."
Democrats opposed the 13th, 14th and 15th amendments to the Constitution. The 13th banned slavery. The 14th effectively overturned the 1857 Dred Scott decision (made by Democratic pro-slavery Supreme Court justices) by guaranteeing due process and equal protection to former slaves. And the 15th gave black Americans the right to vote.
Democrats opposed the Civil Rights Act of 1866, which was passed by a Republican Congress over the veto of President Andrew Johnson, who had been a Democrat before joining Abraham Lincoln's Republican ticket in 1864. The law gave blacks with the right to own private property, sign contracts, file lawsuits, and serve as witnesses in a legal proceeding.
Democrats opposed the Civil Rights Act of 1875, which was passed by a Republican Congress and signed into law by Republican President Ulysses S. Grant. The law prohibited racial discrimination in public places and public accommodations.
The Democratic Party's 1904 platform used the term "Sectional and Racial Agitation" to condemn the Republican Party's protests against segregation and against the denial of voting rights to blacks. This "agitation," said the Democratic platform, sought to "revive the dead and hateful race and sectional animosities in any part of our common country," which in turn would bring "confusion, distraction of business, and the reopening of wounds now happily healed."
Between 1908 and 1920, there were 4 Democratic platforms that were silent on the issues of blacks, segregation, lynching, and voting rights. By contrast, the Republican platforms of those years specifically addressed "Rights of the Negro" (1908), opposed lynching (in 1912, 1920, 1924, 1928), and (with the advent of the New Deal) the dangers of turning blacks into "wards of the state."
At the direction of Democratic President Woodrow Wilson in 1913, Democrats segregated the federal government.
The Democratic Convention of 1924, held in New York's Madison Square Garden, has been dubbed by historians as the "Klanbake." Hundreds of the delegates present were members of the Ku Klux Klan, which was so powerful that a plank condemning Klan violence was unwaveringly rejected. To celebrate, some 10,000 hooded Klansmen staged a massive rally complete with burning crosses and calls for violence against blacks and Catholics.
Democrats created the Federal Reserve Board, passed labor and child welfare laws, and created Social Security with Woodrow Wilson's New Freedom and FDR's New Deal. But these programs were created as the result of an agreement to ignore segregation and the lynching of blacks.
Thousands of Democratic local officials, state legislators, state governors, U.S. congressmen, and U.S. senators were elected as supporters of slavery and then segregation between 1800 and 1965.
In return for election support, three post-Civil War Democratic presidents -- Grover Cleveland, Woodrow Wilson, and Franklin Roosevelt -- agreed to leave the issues of segregation and lynching unaddressed.
Three-fourths of the opposition to the 1964 Civil Rights Bill in the U.S. House of Representatives came from Democrats, as did four-fifths of the opposition in the Senate. That opposition included such figures as future Democratic Senate leader Robert Byrd of West Virginia (a former Klan member) and Tennessee Senator Albert Gore Sr., father of Al Gore.
The Birmingham, Alabama Public Safety Commissioner Bull Connor -- who infamously unleashed dogs and fire hoses on civil-rights protestors -- was a member of both the Democratic National Committee and the Ku Klux Klan.
It seems that the Democrats pander to this same ideology today, saying they will help the poor while passing laws that actually hurt the poor because these laws keep them in poverty or prevent them for getting jobs.
Notice above that until 1948, Democrats openly supported segregation; yet, the first thing the Democrats yell is that the Republicans are holding the poor blacks back. Also, see that it the much hated Jim Crow laws were enthusiastically passed by the Democrats. But that is but a small part of the way Democrats have treated blacks and the poor since then. It even shows that the Democrats used the Ku Klux Klan to do their dirty work, making the KKK an arm of the Democrats which they could push out after they used them. One should take an extreme note that it was the Democrats that opposed the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments, all of which helped the poor and blacks.
We bet no one knew of the Civil Rights Act of 1866: that is the one the Democrats opposed and fought against. This does not sound like a group of people that wished to help the blacks or poor does it. Even today, they still act like this, but not so openly.
It was the Democrats that opposed the Civil Rights Act of 1875. Once again, the Democrats did not wish to allow the blacks or minorities to obtain an equal chance to move out of poverty. But, of course, many will say that the Democrats changed after that, which is a dream at best.
To show how badly the Democrats acted in 1904, we go back to the facts presented by Mr. Lord;
What the Democrats do is not help the poor: they keep them poor on the government dole so they can tell them how to vote in elections. That is what they do today, and it can be seen in every city that is run by Democrats. It is the Democrats that keep making sure the poor people can reap in free health care, food stamps, phones, and all other free things just so the Democrats can say to them, "Vote for us and we will make sure you have these benefits."
A prime example of how the Democrats wanted to keep gaining votes is the way they failed to address segregation and lynching.
In return for election support, three post-Civil War Democratic presidents -- Grover Cleveland, Woodrow Wilson, and Franklin Roosevelt -- agreed to leave the issues of segregation and lynching unaddressed.
Nice to know that, to the Democrats, votes mattered more than segregation or lynching; kind of a roundabout way they do things today. But a name we know today pops up from the 1964 Civil Rights Bill, one Al Gore Sr., who, among the rest of the Democrats, opposed this great piece of legislation. Al Gore's father did not want the bill to pass. Does his son think that way too?
Three-fourths of the opposition to the 1964 Civil Rights Bill in the U.S. House of Representatives came from Democrats, as did four-fifths of the opposition in the Senate. That opposition included such figures as future Democratic Senate leader Robert Byrd of West Virginia (a former Klan member) and Tennessee Senator Albert Gore Sr., father of Al Gore.
Maybe if the people would learn the real history instead of the made up history, many would change their attitudes and vote for a party that will bring jobs back to our shores for all to earn a good living and feel great about earning the money they spend instead of waiting for the Democrats to pass more laws to give them money for sitting on their butts doing nothing, as they do today.
The Democrats cannot be trusted any longer, and, today, all we have to do is look at what the Democrats place in the public to run for president: a man deeply seated in a Socialistic ideology bent on destroying the Constitution and our freedom, and a lady who has stated that the Bill of Rights. That alone should make you run out and get out of the Democratic/Socialist/Communist Party.
