Kloof 151 is a personal residence positioned in Clifton, Cape Town, South Africa, and was made by SAOTA and Antoni Associates.

The house has spectacular views more than the nearby beach and surrounding cliffs, and its interior is pure elegance and sophistication.

Kloof 151 by SAOTA and Antoni Associates:

“The client’s short was for a family home with a guest and a ‘work-from-home’ wing spread more than 2 amounts. The property was not only to take pleasure in the dramatic views of the Clifton beaches, but also to engage with the normal fynbos on the slopes of Lion’s Head to the North.

The property is a 3 storey constructing with building parking. The large entrance to the basement permits for direct sunlight and a pleasantly warm entrance to the residence. At the ground floor, the major residing area enjoys a great place overlooking Clifton. The majority of the living ranges – like the open plan kitchen – open onto the large properly covered terraces to the West or North dealing with the mountain slope and Lion’s Head. The extreme heat and glare of the setting sun is addressed by the cantilevering balconies, extended irregular and striking hardwood screens and motorised vertical material blinds. These devices along with the overall performance glazing end result in an all year round amazing interior.

The terraces are surrounded to the most element with both planting beds that have been planted with indigenous flora to echo the adjacent nature reserve and to reduce the use for additional irrigation. On the North Western corner of the site, a rim flow pool is situated that creates a seamless connection to the ocean.

The ground floor is bisected by a double volume to enrich the spatial experience and develop a dialogue with the double volume stairwell towards the rear. A more intimate second lounge and external terrace has been created which appears out onto the dense all-natural fynbos of the Table Mountain Nature Reserve. The finishes are characteristically clean and easy and contain normal and robust finishes, this kind of as wide plank Walnut floors, off-shutter concrete soffits as nicely as unpolished huge porcelain floor tiles. This also enables characteristics such as the imported kitchen and the stone clad fireplace to contrast with the much less refined aspects.

The 1st floor of the residence accommodates 4 en-suite bedrooms, a gymnasium and a studio room. To lessen the result of glare seasoned at the home, the finishes palette is wealthy and in deep colors. The bedrooms are normally lighter and modern with accents of classic pieces of furniture and a fresh material choice that create tranquil spaces. Frameless glass balustrades are utilised to the stairwell to enhance the sense of openness and transparency in the stairwell.”
