Primary Responsibility

To ensure an effective partnership with all key stakeholders to ensure that sound commercial legal advice is provided to all UK operating companies within the Host Europe Group through effective management of the Group’s in-house legal team.

Responsibilities

Overseeing and managing a small in-house legal team consisting of two paralegals

Directly participating in legal matters, including structuring, negotiating and drafting domain and hosting services and related agreements

Providing ongoing advice directly to business team members regarding general legal and contract specific issues and risks

Handling antitrust/unfair competition issues, pricing and operations, false advertising and marketing law, promotions and competitions, incentive programs, content creation/reviews

Administration and resolution of legal issues that arise in existing commercial relationships

Supporting the customer facing teams in their customer engagements including negotiation and review of terms and conditions

Proactively identifying legal risk and providing appropriate legal advice

Conveying legal issues in an understanding manner to non-lawyers

Providing advice that reflects the cross jurisdictional nature of both customers and HEG

Responsible for all legal and regulatory compliance matters concerning the UK operating group companies as well as selected activities of its sister companies in other jurisdictions

Working closely with the Human Resources team on any employment law matters with strict confidence

Dealing with property law matters that arise on the UK group’s property portfolio

Managing external law firms and other professional advisers.

Experience

BA/BSc/LLB degree

Qualified lawyer with a practicing certificate

1 year+ PQE with good academic background

Skills, Qualifications and Personal Qualities Required

Essential

Proven commercial legal experience with good working knowledge of general IT/Internet

technology law;

Experience of dealing with Commercial Property matters

Experience in Regulation and Compliance

Ability to negotiate contracts that mitigate commercial and legal risk

Ability to provide pragmatic advice that reflects the commercial direction of the business

Solid negotiation, drafting and problem solving skills

Ability to draft and communicate in plain English

The ability to provide proactive, solutions-based counselling with respect to strategic business and legal initiatives and frequent inter-group coordination with counsel from the German In-house Legal team, business organisations, as well as outside counsel.

Desirable

Some working knowledge of M&A laws and procedures would be an advantage

Additional European language(s) would be an added advantage

This is a good option for a lawyer already in-house or commercial private practice lawyer looking to make the first move in-house.

Working Hours

This is a full time position and you are required to work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, on average 8 hours per day. Generally, you are expected to work your hours between the core business hours of 08.00 – 18.00.
