Welcome to #InspireAfricaProject! The first thing an average African Christian does when he faces any challenge is to look for who is after him. When people die we don’t ask what killed him, we ask who killed him. When we experience challenges in any area of our lives we don’t look for what we didn’t do right, we look for who is after us!
Let me start by saying that I’m not ignorant of the devices of the devil, but I’m not also ignorant of my victory in Christ. I know that the devil has some powers, but there will never be a day that he will become more powerful than Jesus Christ. In fact, Jesus defeated him permanently on the Cross.
While speaking somewhere, I told my audience that if we can give God the kind of attention we usually give to the devil, there is no force in this life that can stop us. We give the devil too much attention in Africa. Some people know more about the devil than God. In fact, if you remove warfare and supplication from prayer, an average African won’t know what to say in prayer.
I have argued repeatedly that the people who are creating waves don’t pay much attention to the devil. World class business gurus and industrialists don’t have time for the devil. The people who produce most of the things we use in Africa don’t even believe in God. I’m not denying the existence of satan and his kingdom, but I’m trying to show you that he is a defeated fool. Jesus gave him a bloody nose on the Cross and empowered believers to humiliate him.
Do not be ignorant of the devices of the devil, but don’t be obsessed with demons. There are people who don’t know how to praise and worship God. If you raise a prayer point they will divert into warfare. If you sing a worship song, they will divert it to warfare songs.
If they see rodents, they will call down fire from heaven to consume it. People like that are obsessed with demons. If somebody is possessed it is very easy to deliver him, but if someone is obsessed with demons, nobody can help him. When the going gets tough, there are five major ways to handle it.
1. Sit Down And Analyze The Problem.
One of the secrets of great achievers is their ability to think through issues on paper. They know that every problem comes with opportunities. Opportunity to grow, to see what you’re not seeing, to grow your organization and to become a better leader.
Learn the art of analyses. I have used simple analyses to settle issues that seems insurmountable to people. I have used simple analyses to turn around businesses that were about to crash. God gave us brain so that He can have rest in heaven. He baptized us with wisdom to unravel mysteries and settle any issue that is harassing us. Analyses is powerful.
If couples that quarrel and fight all the time can sit down and analyze their temperament, choice of words when they are talking to each other, the level of their respect, the things they do that causes quarrel, the kind of friends and acquaintances that advise them etc., they will live in harmony they rest of their lives.
If a business owner can spend the next seven days to analyze his business, his growth will amaze his contemporaries. If an employee that has occupied one position for years can sit down and engage in a brainstorming session with himself, he will find out the root cause of his problem.
Several years ago, Lockheed (an aircraft manufacturing company) introduced the L-1011 Tristar plane. In order to ensure safety and test the strength of the jetliner, Lockheed exposed the plane to the roughest possible treatment for 18 months, a program that cost $1.5 billion.
Hydraulic jacks, electronic sensors, and a computer put the airline through its paces for more than 36,000 simulated flights (equivalent to 100 years of airline services), without a single malfunction. Finally, after thousands of tests, the aircraft was given a seal of approval.
That is exactly how to analyze that issues that is harassing you. Don’t just conclude that someone is after you, or that there is a force that is frustrating your breakthrough until you do your part. That part is intensive and extensive analyses. If you can learn to spend at least one hour every night to think and analyze issues, you will become a wonder to your world!
2. Talk To A Professional.
You must understand that your priest or pastor cannot solve all your problems. They are there to deal with spiritual problems. So when it comes to professional matters, look for those who specializes in that area. If you’re having marital challenges kindly look for a relationship and life coach to help you out.
If you’re having health challenges you should pray about it, but don’t forget to meet medical practitioners. Stop drinking all these concoctions they sell by the road side that can cure every illness in this world. Meet someone who knows about health so that you will not make a costly mistake that can lead to death or permanent disability.
If you’re having a carrier, business, financial, management, sales and marketing challenges, all you need to do is to get in touch with our organization. While speaking somewhere few days ago, I told my audience to always pay professionals in order to get the best from them. Our challenge is that we usually go to the wrong people for advice. How can you travel to meet your mother in the village for advice on how to grow your business in the 21st century? It’s good to ask friends for advice, but if it’s a challenge that requires a professional touch, kindly look for them.
3. Listen To Divine Direction.
If you’re a Christian you should learn the art of hearing the voice of the Spirit. When the going gets tough, go to God for direction. Tell Him about your challenges and ask for His input. Make sure you pay attention to what He would say. You might hear a still small voice, have an impression that jumps from nowhere into your heart, or through open vision. I did not add dream because sometimes it can be confusing.
The major secret of king David was the habit of inquiring from God about the next step to take before he goes to war. On several occasions he had to get another confirmation before he stepped out. When the Amalakites kidnapped his wives and children and that of his men, and set their camp on fire, David did not just go after the kidnappers, the Bible says that; “So David inquired of the Lord, saying,“Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them?”And He answered him, “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.” 1 Samuel 30:8.
In another occasion the Bible reported that: “Now when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines went up to search for David. And David heard of it and went down to the stronghold. The Philistines also went and deployed themselves in the Valley of Rephaim. So David inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?”
And the Lord said to David, “Go up, for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into your hand.”
So David went to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there; and he said, “The Lord has broken through my enemies before me, like a breakthrough of water.” Therefore he called the name of that place Baal Perazim. And they left their images there, and David and his men carried them away.
Then the Philistines went up once again and deployed themselves in the Valley of Rephaim. Therefore David inquired of the Lord, and He said, “You shall not go up; circle around behind them, and come upon them in front of the mulberry trees. And it shall be, when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then you shall advance quickly. For then the Lord will go out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.” And David did so, as the Lord commanded him; and he drove back the Philistines from Geba as far as Gezer.” 2 Samuel 5:17-25.
There is nothing as powerful as getting an instruction from the One who created heaven and earth. Our future is already history to Him. God sees the end from the beginning. So go to Him and get an instruction on how to deal with that challenge. These are the three major ways to deal with the challenges of life. I will share the rest in the subsequent articles. Always remember that the devil you’re afraid of is actually under you by the virtue of redemption. Welcome to the world of unlimited possibilities!
