Queen Elizabeth National Park is found in Western Uganda. It can be reached both by air and by road.

The main entry point into Uganda is Entebbe international airport (EBB) which is about 26km from Uganda’s capital Kampala. Travelling from Kampala, the park can be reached from the South through Mbarara, or via Fort portal from the North.

Using these routes a Uganda Safari trip to Queen Elizabeth can be combined with visits to Kibale and Semuliki National Parks, and Lake Mburo, which creates a wonderful circuit and enhances any wildlife safari experience.

The main camp of the park and its headquarters are found in Mweya which can be reached by bus, or charter flights.    Charter flights can also be arranged from Kasese, Ishasha or Mweya Airstrips.

Accommodation

There are a number of lodges and camping sites in and around the park. The variety of accommodation can cater for all budgets.It is possible to camp in Mweya, ishasha, and maramagambo.

The park is also one of the safest African wilderness destinations.Most people making the national park circuit in western Uganda are usually most interested in gorilla trekking  and chimpanzee trekking, but these parks especially Queen Elizabeth National Park have a lot more wildlife experiences to offer.  Queen Elizabeth is one of the parks with the most diverse animal population in Uganda. Some of the animals in the park include; hippos, buffalo, elephants, the Uganda kob, lions, leopards, warthogs and chimpanzees.

There are number of interesting activities to enjoy when visiting the park

You can take game drives and see the various wildlife species, there are guided  walks to explore the Mweya peninsula, you can take a boat ride on the kazinga channel or simply enjoy the sun setting over the water. You can go chimpanzee tracking too. There should never be a dull moment on a trip to this park.
