A guide to the food and drink at Outside Lands 2015
Outside Lands has revealed its 2016 food and drink lineup, and once again it promises to offer a huge assortment of quality eats and drinks for festival goers.
In addition to this year’s musical acts, which include Radiohead, LCD Soundsystem and Lionel Richie, the three-day Golden Gate Park festival (August 5-7), will once again feature its popular food zones Wine Lands, Beer Lands, Choco Lands, and Cheese Lands. GastroMagic, will also return (performers TBA).
A new “land” this year will be the seafood-focused Outside Clams, which will be located next to Wine Lands and overseen by Woodhouse Fish Co., and offer dishes like raw and BBQ oysters, lobster rolls, and clam chowder.
The festival will also once again give concert-goers a proper “Taste of the Bay Area” with 80 restaurants, food trucks and food carts, including returning vendors like new Top 100 restaurant Del Popolo, Alicia’s Tamales Los Mayas and Azalina’s. Food trucks will include Señor Sisig and Bacon Bacon.
Newcomers this year include Trestle, along with deaf-owned pizzeria, Mozzeria, Nepalese dumpling specialist Bini’s Kitchen and Oakland’s Itani Ramen. Also new: Koja Kitchen, Fine & Rare, The Japanese Pantry, Rove Kitchen, Four Barrel Coffee, Belcampo Meat Co. and Homestead Cookies.
This year’s Wine Lands will feature its largest selection yet, with 40 winemakers pouring 120 different wines. Highlights from the lineup include Red Car, AP Vin, Scribe, Ridge, Preston and Turley. You’ll find sparkling wine from Anderson Valley’s Scharffenberger, Russian River Pinot Noir from Thomas George, and Mendocino County Italian varietals from Idlewild. Wine Lands is organized by Peter Eastlake, who will be pouring from his own label, Fount.
Magnolia Brewing’s Dave McClean is in charge of Beer Lands. He’s gathered 28 Northern California breweries for a representative swath of this region’s craft beer scene. You’ll find Bay Area classics like Anchor, Sierra Nevada and Bear Republic, as well as local breweries like 21st Amendment, Calicraft, Drake’s and Fort Point. Be sure to check out newcomer Harmonic Brewing, which opened in Dogpatch last year.
