Bay Area nominees for Tales of the Cocktail
Tales of the Cocktail has unveiled the nominees for its annual Spirited Awards, and there are a number of Bay Area bars and bartenders on the list.
The nominees in 23 award categories are sifted out from the “most respected minds in the cocktail industry”; the awards take place this summer in New Orleans.
The Mission’s Trick Dog led the way for Team San Francisco with four nominations: World’s Best Cocktail Menu, Best American Cocktail Bar, Best American High Volume Cocktail Bar, and Best American Bar Team. Smuggler’s Cove is also up for Best American Cocktail Bar, and one of its bartenders (2009 Chronicle Bar Star Marco Dionysis) is nominated for American Bartender of the Year. Nopa is one of 10 national contenders for Best American Restaurant Bar; Hard Water, Tommy’s, and Slanted Door bar guru Erik Adkins were all recognized in major categories as well.
