malcolm-faede:

For @lavenderlightwood from your TSC Valentine :) I hope you like this short Malec drabble!

The first thing Alec Lightwood did when he got back to the New York Institute was to kick off his boots, and place his bow and quiver of arrows back on the stand.

The hunt that he, Jace and Isabelle had gone on was a long one, and the eldest Lightwood found himself particularly exhausted after it.

As he walked over to the small desk that was in the corner of his room to throw his jacket down, he noticed something that hasn’t been there that morning.

A letter.

Alec squinted at it before picking it up and examining what was written on the front of the envelope. It was his name, in a neat and curled font.

Cautiously, he tore open the envelope. He hadn’t been expecting anything.

But it was the best part of his day. When he saw the contents of what was inside, he cousin the,p the huge grin that plastered itself on his face, or the crimson blush that painted his pale cheeks.

It was from Magnus. Alec remembered the last time he had seen the warlock, and how fantastic their night had been.

Alec unfolded the fine paper, and looked at more of the perfect handwriting. It was addressed to him, and it made his heart skip a beat.

Dear Alexander,

I am writing to say things that I couldn’t say in person. To tell you four things.

1. I truly enjoy spending time with you. Every moment is like a breath of fresh air, something that I have not experienced in a long time. You bring this happiness, and pureness, to my life; which I am so grateful for.
2. You shouldn’t be ashamed of who you are. I know that sometimes it feels like you’re a mistake, or that you’re not good enough, but you are none of those things. You’re Alexander Lightwood, and I quite like that person.
3. I was wondering if I could take you somewhere on Friday night. If that’s okay with you, of course. I found a place that reminded me of you, and thought that I most definitely had to take you there. Send me a message if that is okay with you.
4. I love you.

Kind regards, Magnus Bane.

Alec had to squint at the three  words at the bottom of the page to make sure he wasn’t mistaking them for something else. He felt his own blush intensify, feeling all the heat rush to his face.

Magnus loved him. Magnus Bane, the powerful High Warlock of Brooklyn loved him.

Alec could feel his hands shaking as we grabbed for a blank piece of paper and a pen to scribble his reply on.

Dear Magnus,

I will reply to your four things individually, and thank you for taking the time to write to me.

1. I enjoy spending time with you too. You’re like silence in the madness.
2. Thank you. Hearing (or, reading) that is nice.
3. Sounds like it will be interesting! I’d love to go. What time should I meet you at your loft?
4. I love you too.

Alec didn’t think his letter conformed to the same standards as Magnus’s did, but is was all he knew how to do.

As he sent the fire-message, Alec felt his heart speed up. He loved Magnus. He returned the feelings. He didn’t think it was possible, but he did.

That night, as he was trying to sleep, Alec Lightwood felt happier than he ever had before.
