Britney Spears has been slowly opening up about that difficult time in her life. In a new interview, the pop princess opened up about her twenties and shares her fears for her sons’ impending teenage and adult years.

Spears was dressed in a black and red Boho-style dress that was paired with thigh-high black boots and a black floppy hat. She pulled her look together with a black choker for the interview. Spears, 34, revealed that she enjoys her thirties more than her twenties, as cited by Us Weekly.

“I like my thirties more than my twenties,” she said during an appearance on the talk show Lorraine on Thursday, Sept. 29. “My twenties were horrible! [Being] in my teens was fun, but I like my thirties. … You know who you really are.”

Great day!!

That’s understandable for the singer who experienced a public breakdown. Most of Spears’ twenties were filled with dramatic ups and downs, including two failed marriages, notes the publication. In 2004, Spears married Jason Alexander at the age of 22, but their marriage was annulled just 55 hours later. That same year, Spears went on to marry her backup dancer, Kevin Federline.

Spears and Federline split in 2006 and had a messy divorce and even messier custody battle. The newly single singer was spotted partying around town, which led her to shave her head and attack a paparazzo’s car with an umbrella. Spears then entered rehab for drugs and alcohol.

Lovely morning at @KissFMUK!!

These days, Spears has been focused on her sons, Sean Preston, 11, and Jayden, 10, and has been taking over Las Vegas with her ongoing residency at Planet Hollywood. Spears also secured a successful comeback with her ninth studio album, Glory. After her engagement to Hollywood agent Jason Trawick ended in 2013, she has been linked to David Lucado and producer Charlie Ebersol, as reported by People. But, Spears is focused on being a single lady these days.

“I’m in a really good place right now. I’m loving myself every day and learning who I am. It’s awakening, it’s cool. It’s OK! to be single!”

While Spears enjoys being older, it doesn’t mean she’s ready for her boys to grow up just yet.

“It’s a little strange because I’m nervous. I know 12 and 13 and 14 and 15 is going to be really scary, and I’m going to be like, ‘Mom – please come to the house and help me out here!’ But right now it’s a great age. They’re still babies!”

Spears has also reportedly addressed her conservatorship in a different interview. For the upcoming episode of the Jonathan Ross Show, set to air on Oct. 1, Spears addressed her ongoing conservatorship. According to various reports from fans in the audience, including Noisey writer and PopCrush contributor Grace Medford, Spears addressed it for the first time since her 2008 documentary For The Record. The topic was brought up when Spears was talking about the creative process behind Glory.

“Okay, so I have this conservatorship. I’ve been under this conservatorship for three years and I felt like a lot of decisions were made for me, so I wanted [Glory] to be my baby and I’ve been really strategic about it.”

“She said she’s getting control on things little by little,” a fan in the audience reported on social media. Ross then, apparently had to change the topic because he was not allowed to talk about it, adds the audience member.

Spears was put under a court-ordered conservatorship in 2008 carried out between her father, Jamie Spears, and estate lawyer, Andrew Wallet. The conservatorship has yet to be dropped, as explained earlier this year in a think-piece for the New York Times.

According to another fan in the audience, Spears said that she doesn’t like to party in Vegas, and the last time she smoked marijuana was when she was 17. There were also some segments and things Spears wouldn’t address during the interview. She admitted she delayed a show on her Circus Tour because she “got a contact high” from the people who were smoking a lot of marijuana during that show.

Britney Spears’ episode on the Jonathan Ross Show is set to air on Saturday. There is no telling whether the remainder of this will make the cut, but here is some evidence that it happened, as told in the tweets below.

for posterity in case it doesn’t make the edit – I’ve never heard her say the word “conservatorship” before, it made me hurt pic.twitter.com/nNTGoSS0dt

They’re gonna cut SO much of the interview. She talked about the conservatorship & smoking marijuana last when she was 17

— FEIM (@FeimM) September 28, 2016

Britney was uncomfortable throughout the whole interview, she refused so many fun things they proposed, & she answered with yes or no most

— FEIM (@FeimM) September 28, 2016

She said Glory was her baby & because of the conservatorship, she couldn’t really do what she wanted to do before, & now she had the chance

— FEIM (@FeimM) September 28, 2016

She really looked like she wanted to talk about it but jonathan changed the subject cuz he couldnt talk about it

— FEIM (@FeimM) September 28, 2016

She said she doesn’t go to any party in Vegas cuz all of them are filled with drugs & that she was 17yo the last time she had marijuana

— FEIM (@FeimM) September 28, 2016

She talked about leaving the stage during Circus cuz everybody was smoking weed & she felt the effect of it only by being on stage
