Los Angeles, CA – South California rockers, The Material will premiere the video for “Life Vest” exclusively on MTV Buzzworthy on June 27th, 2013. Front woman, Colleen D’Agostino credits the track ultimately as a love song despite its moody undertones and rock chorus. The video, which was directed by Raúl Gonzo (All Time Low, VersaEmerge, Enter Shikari), was partially filmed under water giving the video incredible originality. You can listen to “Life Vest” on Soundcloud, here: http://soundcloud.com/1888media/the-material-life-vest
When asked about filming the video, D’Agostino stated, “Our sponsors (Taylor, Sennheiser and Ernie Ball) sent us some gear we could get wet for this shoot which was really awesome. The whole shoot was pretty intense with a rain machine and jumping in the pool fully clothed, but it was so fun! The craziest thing we did that night was film my head upside down in a fish tank. Once we were done with the pool shots, Raúl showed me the fish tank and explained the idea. I basically had to do a back bend down to get my head into the fish tank. At first I thought he was crazy, but it turned out really cool. Only someone as creative as Gonzo could make something as simple as a fish tank look as cool as it did. ”
“Life Vest” is off The Material’s latest album, “Everything I Want To Say,”produced by Kyle Black (Paramore, Pierce The Veil, New Found Glory). The April release followed the success of the band’s last full-length, “What We Are,” released in January 2011. The Material, comprised of Colleen D’Agostino (Vocals), Jon Moreaux (Guitar), Roi Elam (Guitar), Kevin Pintado (Drums) and Jordan Meckley (Bass),represent art that is thoughtful, powerful, organic and inspiring. Soulful and raspy female lead, D’Agostino, delivers powerhouse vocals over precise drumming, melodic guitar riffs and driving bass lines – creating an undeniable connection between their music and audience.
The band’s growing fan base has risen with every mile added to their tour van’s odometer. From owning a spot in Purevolume’s Top 20 Unsigned Bands, to headlining the PictureHealing Winter Tour, to the Motel 6 “Rock Yourself To Sleep Tour” (Every Avenue, There For Tomorrow), with a spot on this year’s Vans Warped Tour and three featured performances at SXSW – The Material’s electrifying live performances and passion-filled music has made a significant impact on tastemakers everywhere. Revered by MF Magazine as “smashing,” and highlighted by Alternative Press, PureVolume, MTV, Music Connection, Beatweek Magazine, Black Velvet Magazine and Substream Music Press; the band is without question leaving an impact on true music enthusiasts.
With The Material’s original compositions already making an imprint on shows such as MTV Australia’s Freshwater Blue, MTV’s The Hills, and the WB’s Sorority Forever, as well as the video game, Rock Band, 2013 is set to be their busiest year yet.
