LOS ANGELES, CA – Fortified with tremendous reviews for “Bagboy,” the band’s first new song in nearly a decade, organic airplay on radio stations such as The End in Seattle, The Edge in Dallas, WFUV in New York and Minneapolis’ The Current, having surpassed one-million YouTube plays of their idiosyncratic (and first) promo video for the song, and sold-out concerts stretching from one end of Europe to the other, today the Pixies have added to what will be an extensive global trek, eight U.S. club shows set for September. The band will headline the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles on September 9, 10, and 11, and the Mayan on September 12, followed by three nights at New York’s Bowery Ballroom, September 17, 18 and 20, and a show at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg on September 19. These dates mark the first time since 2009 that the Pixies have played public shows in these cities.

It was important to the band that their hard-core fans had access to these shows. Consequently, Pixies Logo 50% of all tickets available for these eight concerts were offered exclusively to the Pixies fan club members early this morning via a special email from the band, and 50% of all shows were sold out in minutes. The Pixies also wanted to keep the ticket price fair and affordable, so have worked with the concerts’ promoters to offer fans an “all-in” ticket price, meaning that no additional charges will be added to the face value. The public on-sale for all eight shows begins on Saturday, July 27 at 10AM local time. Log onto pixiesmusic.com for purchasing information.

“We couldn’t be happier with the sold out European shows and the way ‘Bagboy’ has been received by fans and by the media,” said the Pixies’ David Lovering. “We’ve been wanting to release new music for a long time now, and to not only be able to finally do it, but to have people really like it, is like grabbing the brass ring. And we’re really looking forward to playing again in L.A. and New York.”

All of the Pixies dates on their worldwide tour will feature a brand new stage set and production, and will give the band an opportunity to not only debut brand new Pixies songs, the first collection of new material since 1991′s Trompe le Monde, but to offer the most wide-ranging concert set lists of Pixies music in the band’s career. For these dates, the Pixies – Black Francis – guitar/vocals, Joey Santiago – guitars/backing vocals, and David Lovering – drums/backing vocals – will be joined by bassist Kim Shattuck. Shattuck played bass for the all-girl L.A. garage rock band The Pandoras, and then was the guitarist for the pop punk band The Muffs.
