The Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board (Board) trustees elected Maria Hardie and Connie Positano as Chair and Vice-Chair, respectively, at the Board’s initial meeting on Wednesday, December 4th. Chair Maria Hardie and Vice-Chair Connie Positano will serve in their positions for the 2014 Board year.
Maria Hardie represents wards 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 of Barrie. She has been a trustee with the Board since November 2010 and has served two terms as Vice-Chair. She lives in Barrie with her husband Michael and their two children are graduates of the Catholic system. Prior to her election as trustee, Maria was a school secretary with the Board for 22 years before retiring from St. Nicholas Catholic School in Barrie.
Chair Maria Hardie thanked the trustees for their vote of confidence. She said, “I look forward to working with you to expand and improve the learning opportunities for the students of the board. I will continue my commitment to champion Catholic education and at the same time to contribute to student success.”
Connie Positano, represents wards 1, 2 3, 4 and 5 of Barrie and has been a trustee with the board since February 2008. She lives in Barrie with her husband JJ and their two children current attend school in the Board.
Vice-Chair Connie Positano said, “I look forward to working with all of the trustees to ensure we bring the best Catholic learning opportunities to all the children we serve.”
