Welcome to the Lego Harry Potter Quilt Along. This quilt along has been particularly helpful for me to stay focused on finishing this quilt. It has been such a fun project with drawing and writing the pattern files, then picking out the fabric and sewing the blocks.
I set out to create a quilt symbolizing happiness and all things good. This month’s blocks are particularly special to me. I hope you like them too.
Flame And Flowers
As we play in the Lego Hogwarts castle, we get to light the torches around the castle and make everything a bit brighter. It reminds me of what Professor Dumbledore once said –
“Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times if one only remembers to turn on the light.” — Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, by J.K. Rowling
There are little barrels and mud-blobs all around the Lego castle grounds. Casting spells on the barrels makes them grow flowering plants. The mud-blobs flip over to turn into plants. We often say that if all the land-mines could also flip over to turn into plants, our little world would be so much more of a beautiful place.
Spectrespecs
I love Luna! In a way, her spectrespecs make me think of seeing the unseen qualities in people. She is different, therefore she often becomes an easy target of unkind teasing. That does not ever stop her from being happy though, she is perfectly content being herself. She is unselfishly brave, extremely kind, a fabulous friend and wonderfully optimistic. I am glad to have known her, even if it was through ink and paper.

I draw these pictures freehand and then turn them into patterns, which is a lot of work. Please only use them for personal use and do not distribute or share them anywhere. A change in schedule
Originally, the QAL was going to end in the month of February. However, as time went by, I thought of a few more blocks that I really wanted to be part of my quilt. I am extending the QAL so I can share the extra blocks with you.
Don’t worry if you have purchased the background fabric already. I made allowance for that in the design.
