Did you know it’s really simple to create your own envelope liners? And it’s one of those things you can just whip up in no time. Learn to create fab and fun DIY envelope liners in today’s tutorial.

I’ve always felt that you don’t need a particular occasion to tell your mom how much she means to you. But a day like Mother’s Day is a good reminder that moms are special, and they deserve to know that.

Remember the free floral watercolor printables I posted the other day? Well guess what, they can be perfect envelope liners too. Since the printable included wall art and greeting card, it’s a sweet deal. I printed the wall art printable on normal printer and voilà! Beautiful DIY envelope liners.

Materials you’ll need for DIY envelope liners:-

Envelopes- I got these fabulous bright pink envelopes from LCI paper.

Envelope liners- You can use any pattern, paper or printable as long as it’s not thick. You can also download my floral watercolor printable.

Precision knife, cutter knife or scissor.

Glue stick

Bone folder or check out an alternative I’ve shown below

Step 1: Take any patterned paper or printable of your choice. Open your envelope and trace around it with a pencil on your envelope liner. After that, cut the shape using a precision knife or scissor.

Step 2: The glue area of my envelope was about 1/2 inch. I cut out about 1/2 inch on three sides as shown below. Before gluing, I placed it inside the envelope to check. I noticed that there were some odd bits sticking on either side that needed cutting. I simply traced again with a pencil while the liner was still inside and cut it out. You’ll also need to cut a tiny bit on all sides so that the liner can fit inside.

Step 3: Then, I marked the fold of the envelope on the liner by simply closing the envelope while the liner was still inside. This is the fun part. I don’t have a bone folder and I almost always make use of what I have at home. This is what you need to do if you don’t have one too. Score the liner using a wooden skewer. Then, fold over and use the blunt end of your knife and press down. This forms a perfect fold.

Step 4: Insert the liner and then fold it over and glue only the part that’s visible. If you glue the entire liner, it will be impossible to put it inside. Smooth down and that’s it! How easy was this DIY envelope liner?
