The HyparGate, first discrete hyperbolic paraboloid made of stone, will help construction engineers reduce the use of artificial materials in architecture. Using advanced software and robotic fabrication, the New Fundamentals Research Group at the Polytechnic University of Bari and engineers from Roma Tre University designed the structure as an innovative reinforced stone shell which revives Stereotomy, the ancient art of stone cutting.
