On Monday US president, Barack Obama, led a chorus of ‘happy birthday’ sung to his oldest daughter Malia for her 18th birthday.
Malia’s birthday happens to fall on the same day with the celebration of the independence of the USA.
Rain forced the independence celebration to occur indoors.
The Fourth of July event was meant to take place on the South Lawn of the White House late Monday evening.
“It just so happens we celebrate our country’s birthday on the same day we celebrate my oldest daughter’s birthday,” the president said before busting into the song.
Malia joined her father onstage and embraced her father tightly.
Artists Kendrick Lamar and singer Janelle Monae performed for the attendees before the president and his wife spoke in the East Room.
