The team behind the highly-successful annual automotive and motorsport expo, CRC Speedshow, are turning their attention to showcasing the latest and coolest consumer electronics, gadgets and technology in a brand-new expo called the Gizmos, Gadgets & Technology Show.

The new digital lifestyle and technology show will take place for the first time on 7 and 8 March 2015 at Auckland’s ASB Showgrounds.

Director Ross Prevette says: “The idea for the Gizmos, Gadgets & Technology Show came from seeing the phenomenal popularity of The Gadget Show Live in the United Kingdom and the array of new products which are launched at the International Consumer Electronics Show in the United States.

“We wanted to create a similar show for New Zealanders, add a local flavour to a truly world-class line-up of the latest digital lifestyle products and technology, from computers, audio/visual and gaming through to software, telecommunications, electronics, home appliances, automotive technology and lifestyle solutions for Kiwis of all ages.”

Prevette brings solid credentials to the technology expo start-up, having developed a very successful specialist audio-visual business in the Bay of Plenty. He and co-director and wife Brenda Prevette also created and ran an award-winning custom motorcycle fabrication and automotive retail operation before purchasing CRC Speedshow in 2012. The Whakatane-based couple have secured the backing of a trio of silent investors to form a new company, The Event Company Ltd. Together, the directors intend grow the annual two-day CRC Speedshow from its present 30,000-strong audience and to establish the Gizmos, Gadgets & Technology Show as the premier consumer electronics and technology show in New Zealand.

“We anticipate New Zealand’s major home appliance and technology retailers, developers and distributors will feature a vast array of products and services at the Gizmos, Gadgets & Technology Show and the show offers a fantastic opportunity for new product launches,” says Prevette.

“The breadth of tech-related products and services means the show will have broad appeal covering families with children from babies to school leavers, young tech-savvy couples, groups of friends (male and female) and older couples looking for tech-based medical, health and lifestyle products and services that really make a difference to their quality of life.”

Prevette has had positive feedback about the new show from industry participants and is already talking to likely exhibitors and display providers.

Stuart Buxton, New Zealand and marketing strategy manager for Dell, says: “The team behind the CRC Speedshow have a real feel for taking a static event, like a car show, and making it come alive. The Gizmos, Gadgets and Technology Show is the right concept at the right time, and we’ll be watching its development closely.”
