With all the 2017 truck announcements, each one has to do better than the one that came before it. GMC is sending out the Sierra HD All Terrain X out swinging as a result. A new aggressive appearance comes with all sorts of standard and upgrade options. These also come paired with great options that offer more off road ability. The October 10th Texas Truck Rodeo got to hold first mass viewing of the new top Sierra trim package.

From the exterior, one of the first things we notice is a much more prominent new front grille. More black accenting either contrasts or compliments your choice of the two paint options. Black accents with the Black Onyx paint color give the All Terrain X a truly aggressive look. If those black accents are matched with Summer White paint, the All Terrain X becomes a real eye catcher.

There are two choices to pick between for engines in the New Sierra HD. The gasoline option is a 6L V8 which is a strong part of the core of the GMC truck line. The diesel option is a completely new Duramax 6.6L V8 which gets a generous boost from its turbo. While the 6L turns out 360 horsepower and 380 foot pounds of torque, the diesel is much more impressive. The 6.6L Duramax rolls an impressive 445 hp and a beastly 910 lb-ft of torque for rough terrain.

It’s not all brute force and attitude coming with the new Sierra HD All Terrain X but there’s brains too. GMC’s IntelliLink system is offered through an 8″ screen for all your infotainment needs. Remote starting, adjustable pedals, and wireless charging all offer passenger convenience. You’ll feel right at home in the all new leather upholstery as well as the heated front seats for comfort.

These brains help keep the exterior sharp as well with a tailgate that locks and unlocks remotely. Front and rear parking assists help make sure you don’t accidentally climb over subcompacts. Sporty black four inch side steps help passengers get up to where they can look down on lesser trucks.

If you aren’t a fan of staying on the pavement, the Z71 off road suspension kit comes as the standard option. This comes paired with an automatic locking rear diff from Eaton. Goodyear Duratrac MT tires offer aggressive tread and look right at home on big trucks like this. The 18″ rims are a combination of flash and function because they’re durable while still looking great.

While we still don’t have a price for this top end Sierra trim, expect to know soon as new model years go on sale this fall. The GMC Sierra HD All Terrain X made its most noteworthy public debut at the Texas Truck Rodeo on October 10th.
