The 2016 Pebble Beach auctions were held this past weekend. Some of the most sought after collector’s cars in the world were traded for small fortunes, one after another, leaving the rest of us to drool and cry over the fact that our fantasies of being there and buying one didn’t come true, yet again.

All in all, after the final bids were made and the auction hammer slammed on the block for the last time, the California auction reported sales totalling $345 million, falling short of the 2015 total of $396 million.

Here is a list of the top ten most expensive cars that were up on the block over the last week:

1955 Ferrari 750 Monza Spider (RM Sotheby’s) sold for $5,225,000

This racer originally took first place at the 12 Hours of Sebring in 1955 but was later relegated to second. Over its lifetime it has reportedly been driven by Phil Hill, Carroll Shelby and Jim Hall.

1950 Ferrari 166 MM Berlinetta sold for $5,445,000

Another Ferrari, Nuccio Bertone piloted this amazing machine at the 1950 Mille Miglia.

1956 Ferrari 250 GT TdF Coupe sold for $5,7200,00

This classic Ferrari took part in both the 1956 Mille Miglia and the 1959 Tour de France.

1932 Bugatti Type 55 Roadster sold for $10,400,00

This beautiful and stylish example of automobile excellence was designed by Ettore Bugatti’s son, Jean Bugatti.

1933 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Monza Roadster sold for $11,990,000

Only about 190 of these cars were ever built, making them rare to begin with. This third-series Monza was a regular on the racetrack between 1933 and 1950.

1960 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Competizione Coupe sold for $13,500,000

This beautiful Ferrari coupe was the 7th overall winner at the 1960 24 Hours of Le Mans, driven by Ed Hugus and Augie Pabst.

1962 Shelby Cobra 260 Roadster sold for $13,750,000

Not just any Cobra, this was the first Shelby Cobra ever built. When it sold this weekend, it also became the most expensive American automobile to ever be sold at auction (much to the delight of the seller, I’m sure).

1959 Ferrari 250 GT California LWB Alloy Spider sold for $18,150,000

This is one of only 9 alloy-bodied LWB California Spiders that was let loose from the factory sporting competition features. A truly rare Ferrari.

1939 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B Lungo Spider sold for $19,800,000

A pre-war Italian treasure ranked among other iconic autmobiles such as Bugatti, the Mercedes Benz 540K and the Duesenburg.

1955 Jaguar D-Type Roadster sold for $21,780,000

Now the most expensive British car to ever be sold at auction, this car won the 1956 24 Hours of LeMans. The 250hp beauty was driven to victory by Ecurie Ecosse.
