DUSSELDORF, GERMANY, Monday, February 29, 2016 —

Kodak today announced its line-up of new flexo technologies to be launched on its stand (Hall 5, Stand F09) at drupa 2016. The new FLEXCEL NX System ’16, powered by an expanding NX Advantage feature set, includes features to help printers achieve print production efficiencies and quality to become more competitive.

The new FLEXCEL NX System ’16 builds on the award-winning NX Advantage technology, which includes advanced plate surface patterning capabilities to dramatically improve ink transfer efficiency in the broadest range of flexo printing applications. Brand new system features include NX tags for the application of multiple patterns on a single plate layout, and Advanced Edge Definition, a Kodak patented technology that controls ink flow at the edge of objects, resulting in cleaner print and greater visual edge definition.

Print service providers (PSPs) will benefit from Kodak’s new NX Implementation Services and NX Certification Program, designed to bring the full value of FLEXCEL NX System ‘16 to the pressroom. The NX Implementation Service will enable printers to unlock the full advantage of the Kodak plate technology with experienced technical specialists who provide an onsite service to help customers identify how they can make improvements in print quality, cost and productivity. PSPs completing the optimization process can earn the title of Kodak Certified Partner.

The new FLEXCEL NX System ’16 delivers advanced print capabilities with the simplest plate portfolio in the industry. Unique Kodak imaging and material technology enable the system to produce plates for the full gamut of flexo printing applications using two plate material types only, giving pre-press operations that switch from competitive technologies the added opportunity to reduce inventory, errors and complexity.

For flexible packaging printers, the FLEXCEL NX System ’16 means cost savings and press efficiency by delivering ink savings, faster press operation, use of fewer colors and longer lasting plates in narrow, mid and wide web operations. Kodak also plans to showcase s FLEXCEL NX product offering for the corrugated market.

Kodak will reveal the next major advances in flexo plate technology in the ULTRA NX Experience room on the Kodak stand to learn about environmentally-conscious plate technology that could cut platemaking times in half, run longer on press and deliver higher printing quality, all with the robustness and consistency for which the KODAK FLEXCEL NX platform has become well known.

“Kodak’s superior offering is driving growth for flexo PSPs; our customers are winning business and successfully converting designs previously printed using offset or roto-gravure to flexo production,” said Chris Payne, General Manager, Flexographic Packaging Solutions, Kodak. “With our unmatched flexo offering, Kodak is giving printers the production efficiency and print quality they’ve have been waiting for in order to make flexo the packaging print process of choice.
