Please tell us about your childhood days and family background?

I spent my childhood in a small and very backward village in Uttarakhand. My father was in Army and he wanted me to join the Army. He (father) was very strict. My father wanted me to follow his thoughts and disciplines that were never incorporated by me in my childhood. Moreover, the misunderstanding between me and my father created a gap between us. I was stubborn, so I never bowed down and after all, he was my father. After his retirement, we shifted to Mumbai in 1993, and then as we were living together we started understanding each other. From working culture of Mumbai, we got to know that there are many things in life to do.

Was that the reason that son of an army officer (D B Chand) chose to become a businessman?

We don’t have any plans about future in childhood days. The disciplines my father was putting on me to become an Army man was very strict. I think that rules should be imposed in the limit of understanding and tolerance. It should not be so strict that someone has to go beyond that rules. Therefore the rule imposed by my father was not acceptable to me. While I was in standard X, I left my home with the help of my elder from in Mumbai. I joined at an office where I was paid rupees 1200 per month; I was continuing my studies simultaneously. For a year I worked with a man known as Ashwini Kumar Juneja. That one year changed me a lot, I learned a lot from Mr Juneja, and he spent money on my studies. And I realized that there are some good people like him in the world and I decided that I want to be like him someday. From then onwards I never thought about anything rather than concentrating on my business.

You have a goal that by the year 2034, your company Indo Asian Buildcon should gross Rs. Fifty Thousand Crores, Please tell us about it?

Some three years ago, I realized about some special things, like in India, there are countless Entrepreneurs who think to do something good for the nation and the society. I thought that I don’t want to be one of these countless entrepreneurs; I want to be a big part of the society. There are great people like Ratan Tata, Ambani, Narayan Murthy in our country and I locked in my mind that I want to be like them. I started my planning that took one and a half year; I penned my plans on how my next 20 years should be. I decided that in a span of 20 years (2014-2034) I want to build the empire of fifty thousand crores. So I could do something for our nation. The other main reason behind it was that my company should create a history that after 100 or 200 years people should remember it and me as well.

How satisfied are you with the progress you have maintained in the last two years?

Many times people say that, market is down but for me it is not. Because when others are doing nothing, it is the best time to do something and from last two years I have done very well in my business. And I am 100 percent sure that I am going on right track. For my goal, I required a resource like infrastructure, team size, land acquisition, business development plans and all are on their right position and I am getting results too.

Recently you have launched an IT company, so you are jumping into IT Sector, brief us about it?

Along with my 20 years plan, I also planned to diversify the business like Reliance. IT field is growing continuously since the last 10-15 years and I think future belongs to it. Around four months prior, we registered our company under Nederland Government in Chamber of Commerce. Many people told us to start from India and go abroad after 5-6 years. But I directly planned for European market and now our work has been started and we are getting clients there.

You are doing a lot for society and have also floated an NGO, tell us about your social work?

From the last 6 years we are doing various social works through our organization. Mainly, I work for Cancer. A Cancer patient doesn’t need our food or clothes; they are in need of money. We are lending financial help for cancer patients. Till date we have helped more than 2500 people all over India. We planned the cancer pre-detection system where our teams of doctors are spreading the awareness on how to be safe from cancer, on all India level.

As you belong to Real Estate business what do you want to say about the Suraj Parmar Murder case, who was the famous builder in Thane?

After that incident, builders got scared. There is fear in their minds that though they do the business they can’t do it properly. I do felt the same while talking to people. Instead of helping that person in growth, people damaged him and that damage not only affected that person but it also affected his family and the work force he carried and ultimately it affected the nation. This is very sad thing and it should not happen again.

Many politicians were involved in this case, what do you want to say about them?

From local Village Head to Prime Minister of Nation all politicians are chosen by people. They should work for people selflessly, make changes in system. And in this case I can’t say anything as Police Investigation is going on.

Since BJP-Shivsena came into power Real Estate market is down and still property rates are so high, what is the reason behind it?

Here, other than legal process there are many expenses to be paid and that goes out of the way and estimation one makes at the launch of the project. And I think, for builders it is not possible to work by reducing today’s property rates. There are no buyers in the market, so we don’t have any other ways except waiting.

What help do you think Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri Devendra Fadanvis should offer to Real Estate Business?

I must say that in Real Estate the Government process like Land Acquisition, town planning, then NA should be easy and there should be a way to stop bribery and under the table deals. There are a lot of limitations imposed by the government in Real Estate business, this should be reduced. There should be one window clearance. Only then can property rates come down.

What difference do you see in the NDA and UPA government considering the growth of Nation?

I have seen that there was no vision, no clarity and no transparency in UPA government. And in the last one and half years of NDA government I can see the vision. Though our market was down in that period, I am sure that the future of Real Estate market will be good. Certainly we can see good results in the next five years.

Recently many people said that there is a lot of intolerance in the country, as citizens do you too feel the same?

I am listening about people commenting on intolerance from quite some time and I sincerely do not agree by them. The reason behind my disagreement is that the kind and amount of freedom our country offers to its citizens is such that no other country in the world offers. Not even in America or Europe. They feel safe in India. The people who are saying it are not facing any kind of difficulties in life; people are showering unconditional love on them. I think that can be either publicity stunt or their own thinking.
