Any idea about the new Scheme in pipeline ?

I just saw the news

CHB to float two new schemes with 1,700 flats on offer | The Indian Express

The Chandigarh Housing Board is all set to float two new self-financing housing schemes in sectors 51 and 54. Around 1,700 flats in various categories would be constructed. It is after several years that board would be floating a scheme for general housing.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the board on Thursday. As part of the housing schemes, 3BHK (HIG), 2 BHK (MIG), 1 BHK (LIG) and one-room flats for economically weaker sections would be constructed. As many as 160 flats are already constructed in Sector 51. It is proposed that the flats under the new scheme would be similar in design to these flats.

For the flats in Sector 54, a consulting architect would be selected through an open design competition at the national level. The design to be made would be energy-efficient and sustainable. Land is scarce in Chandigarh. Stress would be given on optimal utilisation of the same. The flats would also have provisions for rainwater harvesting and utilisation of solar power.

Chairman, Chandigarh Housing Board, B S Bhalla said that both the schemes would be announced at the earliest. The modalities would be worked out in detail in the coming days. Bhalla said that there was a huge demand for general housing in the city to cater to which the CHB has decided to float the schemes.

Over the past few years, the CHB focus has been on construction of tenements under the rehabilitation scheme and general housing schemes have been on the backburner. The scheme for the UT employees that was floated is in turmoil.

In was further decided in the meeting that the allotment of specific dwelling units for 160 two-bedroom flats that are completed would be done on October 28. The allotment and possession of the dwelling units shall be given to all applicants who have deposited the cost of the flat. The possession is targeted to be handed over by November 2014.

The members of the board also decided that the commercial property of the board that is lying vacant would be rented out for a maximum period of three years. There are 143 properties of the board that have found no takers. These would be rented by way of open auction. Preference would be given to banks, government organisations, autonomous bodies and boards and corporations
