PURI/BHUBANESWAR: The Grand Road leading to the 12th Century old Lord Jagannath Jagannath Temple in holy city of Puri , some 60 Kilometers away from State Capital of Bhubaneswar, on Tuesday wore festive look with devotees from across the Country beeline to see Lord Jagannath inside the Temple on Sri Ram Navami.
In Bhubaneswar, large number devotees throng to Ram Temple in Kharvel Nagar, ISKCON Temple in Nayapalli, East Coast Railway Porters’ Union Temple at Master Canteen and other Ram Temples in the State.
“I came from Siliguri West Bengal to have a darshan of Lord,” said Sukumar Haldar in Puri. Rama is the oldest known God having human form. It is also considered the 7th avatar of Vishnu, he added.
The holy day falls in the Shukla Paksha on the Navami, the ninth day of the month of Chaitra in the Hindu calendar. Thus it is also known as Chaitra Masa Suklapaksha Navami, and marks the end of the nine-day Chaitra-Navaratri (Vasanta Navaratri) celebrations.
