A new round of NSW Government grants of up to $20,000 are now available to help fund projects focusing on inter-cultural and inter-faith activities, Minister for Citizenship and Communities Victor Dominello announced today.

The Community Inclusion Grants are part of the $1.4 million Multicultural Advantage Grants Program, administered by the Community Relations Commission (CRC), to promote community harmony and provide direct financial support to strengthen grassroots community organisations.

“These grants will help fund organisations that encourage and assist participation by all NSW residents in community life, with a particular focus on inter-cultural and inter-faith activities that bring diverse groups of people together,” Mr Dominello said.

“Activities that promote community harmony; mentor small or emerging communities; target geographically or socially isolated communities and; develop networks or structures to address emerging critical issues are also funded.”

Mr Dominello said the Multicultural Advantage Grants Program helps NSW tap the strength of cultural diversity by supporting multicultural organisations, services and activities.

“It makes economic sense to invest in culturally diverse community organisations because of the immeasurable value gained from the huge amount of volunteer service provided by thousands of community members.”

Under the Multicultural Advantage Grants Program, the CRC also administers Partnership Grants to support partnerships between the CRC and organisations with an interest in maximising economic participation and the linguistic and cultural assets of the NSW population.

Sponsorship Grants that support events and activities that foster community cohesion and promote the benefits of a multicultural society are also available.

“Multiculturalism is one of our greatest cultural and economic assets and this investment shows the NSW Government is serious about celebrating the benefits of cultural diversity,” Mr Dominello said.

Applications for Community Inclusion Grants must be received at CRC offices, or by email at inclusion.grants@crc.nsw.gov.au by 5.00pm on 27 September.
