Third-gen model already on test in India from over two years.

Toyota started testing the Toyota Vios in India in 2015 and has continued to do so for a long time, hinting at a possible market launch. According to a report from carandbike, the Honda City/Maruti Ciaz killer will finally hit the Indian market in early 2018.

The Toyota Vios is midway through its lifecycle and received a facelift in China last year and in Thailand this year. It’s quite strange how Toyota has to bring it to the Indian market towards the end of its lifecycle. The report says that the Toyota Vios will have its Indian debut at the Auto Expo 2018 in February and go on sale in April 2018.

The Indian-spec Toyota Vios should have a lot in common with the Thai-spec Toyota Vios. The latter measures 4,420 mm in length, 1,700 mm in width and 1,475 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,550 mm. It’s powered by the 2NR-FBE 1.5-litre Dual VVT-i four-cylinder petrol engine produces 79 kW (108 PS) at 6,000 rpm and 140 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm. A continuously variable transmission is standard. In India, though, Toyota may offer a manual transmission as standard, as well as a 1.4-litre diesel engine option.
