Vine and Table Holiday Extravaganza, December 1st

Visit Carmel’s wine and gourmet food market Vine & Table on Thursday, December 1st from 6-9 pm for tastings, hors d’oeuvers, and sale prices! TIckets are $30 in advance or $35 at the door, and hundreds of wine are available for tasting…what’s not to love?!

Carmel-Clay Historical Society Holiday Home Tour, Dec. 2-4

Tour three unique properties during the 20th annual home tour tradition. The Kinzer Cabin (Clay Township’s oldest structure, built in 1827), The Scott Jones Estate (including a two-story mahogany slide), and The While Chapel Church (the only area pioneer church still standing).
Friday, December 2nd 5pm and 7:30pm, $50 (includes appetizers)
Saturday, December 3rd, 9am-3pm tours on the hour, $30

IMA Art and Brew Tour, December 8th

The second Thursday of each month brings the Art and Beer Tour to the Indianapolis Museum of Art. For $45 you get a behind-the-scenes look at the collection, sample Sun King Brewery’s best beers, and ride on the Indy Brew Bus for beer samples at two local breweries.

Holiday Cheers at Conner Prairie, December 15th

Visit the historical park for an adults-only evening of food, wine, craft beer, and spirits and take a candlelit stroll through 1836 Prairie Town. A 19th-century soiree, sausage-making demonstrations, and multi-cultural holiday traditions make this a December must-do. Glassblowing Class, Make an Ornament, December 18th

Looking for a date where you can truly experience something new? Join GRT Hot Glass Studio for a 2-3 hour instructional class to create a colored glass ornament. Matt Kenyon of Kenyon’s Creations (www.kenyonscreations.com) will demonstrate and explain the process while guiding you through your own creation. $45 per person, 12pm Sunday, December 18th.

Murder Mystery Dinner (various locations and dates)

While not all Murder Mystery locations are adults only this is a great date to leave the kids at home. Dinner, drinks, and entertainment all in one make for a fun night out. Audience involvement ranges and tickets run from $40-$60 per person.

Indy Wine Trail, Daily, times vary based on winery

If a leisurely day with lots of wine is your thing try the Indy Wine Trail. Start at any of the four participating wineries and pick up a Trail Passport. Wineries include Buck Creek Winery (www.buckcreekwinery.com), Cedar Creek Winery (www.cedarcreekwine.com), Chateau Thomas Winery (www.chateauthomas.com), and Easley Winery (www.easleywinery.com). Miss Green Planet Social Event and Pageant, December 10th

Did you know Miss Green Planet was a thing? Well, it is, and it’s pretty cool. This eco-fashion show (think high fashion meets the recycling bin…in a good way) combined with music and dancing is a fun and unique way to spend the evening. Tickets start at $30 and the activities begin at 7pm.

December First-Friday Gallery Tour including the Stutz Artists Holiday Open House, December 2nd

On the first Friday of each month the Indianapolis Downtown Artists and Dealers Association (IDADA) hosts gallery tours including over 30 downtown art locations from 6-9 pm. Start at any location and see as much as you like. For the December First Friday you can visit the Stutz Artist Holiday Exhibition Open Studios on 5-10 pm, which will include food, beverages, and music as well as holiday spirited artwork by 90+ artists. Art ranges from paintings, drawings, and photography to sculpture, jewelry, and furniture, much of which is available for purchase, including many smaller works great for gift-giving. Catch a Holiday Show at the Palladium, various dates and times

Holiday shows and concerts abound during the Christmas season. While many are family-friendly there are also some great option for a kid-free night on the town. The Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel has a great selection of shows including Completely Christmas, with music, ancient beliefs and superstitions explained, and the birth of the babe. Home-Free Holiday is a high-energy a capella performance by the Season 4 champions of NBC’s The Sing-Off, as well as the Dave Koz Christmas Tour, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and the Festival of Carols.
