Halloween is a lot of fun for all ages, we love watching our children have a great time taking on the appearance and demeanor of heroes and villains. Here are some fantastic trunk or treat locations in Indianapolis, festivals and other Halloween related or Halloween alternative events. BOO N’ BREW will take place at Clay Terrace on October 24. Adults can enjoy the beer garden, while kids take part in the mall’s annual Malloween – a mall-wide, safe trick-or-treating event. Children ages 10 years & under will trick-or-treat from store to store. Other fun activities will include live music, silly safari animal shows, face painting, balloon artists, hayrides and more!  Events start at 2:00 P.M. and end at 6:00 P.M.

Haunted Gingerbread Houses at Broad Ripple Park. Create your own using provided supplies. Participation and materials fee $10. Register before it’s full.

Brownsburg’s popular Pumpkin Smash Bash carnival with free kids’ activities including a bounce house, face painting, an obstacle course, putt-putt golf, and a Halloween-themed photo booth. Hayrides through Arbuckle Acres Park will be offered for $3 per person or $15 for a family up to 6 members. A pumpkin patch in the park will have pumpkins available for purchase.

Costume Swap in Franklin
Franklin Parks and Recreation is partnering with the Johnson County Recycling District for their annual Halloween Costume Swap in the Recreation Center from 6:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M.  This free costume exchange is open to all.  If you wish to swap out a costume, please bring in a clean and gently-used costume in good condition without any tears or stains.

“The slightly Haunted Puppet Studio” by Peewinkle’s Puppet Studio | Purchase tickets online now to attend this spooktacular entertaining show for the entire family.  Various showtimes are offered between October 10th and October 31st.  Tickets are $12. Children under two years of age are free. Patrons receive free popcorn.  Tickets for the optional post show workshop can be purchased in the studio after the show for $3 per person.  Group rates available by calling the studio.

Hauntless Halloween
Join Holliday Park and Booth Tarkington Civic Theater for an enchanted evening of fun!  Families hike along candle-lit trails to visit with forest inhabitants who can magically speak on these very special evenings, then venture back to the Nature Center to enjoy a campfire, refreshments and more!  Hikes run every 10 minutes beginning at 5:50 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. on Thursday, and 8:00 P.M. on Friday and Saturday.  Admission is $8 for adults, $6 for children ages 3 years to 12 years.  Ages 2 years and under are free. Monster Mash at the Greenwood Community Center presented in partnership between Greenwood Parks and Recreation and Greenwood Public Library will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. Children’s Costume Contest and Parade will be held outside around Surina Square at 6:00 P.M.  For $2 per guest, attendees can enjoy a  hayride along with a hot dog, chips and drink.  Refreshments and D.J. Mama Mia will be in the Gym.  The library has partnered with local businesses that will have trick or treating in Greenwood Community Center’s large room.  Storytime will also be offered by Greenwood Public Library.  This event will also include two outdoor bounce houses (weather permitting).

Pumpkin Carving Contest at Ellenberger Park Skating Rink

Come see this FREE (slightly) haunted children’s puppet show by Melchior Marionettes and Peewinkle’s Puppet Studio. The Show features beautiful hand-crafted and costumed marionettes performing in full view of the audience.  The cast includes dancing ghosts and skeletons, a juggling scarecrow, and Esmerelda the witch, while Dracula welcomes visitors from a second story ghost house.

Irvington Halloween Festival Street Fair
This is an annual FREE event from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. offering entertainment, food and over 170 vendors throughout Irvington.  Located along East Washington Street between Ritter (to the West) and Bolton (to the East), and Audubon Street from Washington (to the North) to Bonna Ave (to the South).
