Me and maybe two of my friends are planning on a trip to the Enchanting North East India to cover 4 states out of the 8 states. (Assam, Arunachal, Meghalaya and Sikkim).
Here is our itinerary based on all the info I could scour from the internet.
North East Trip Itinerary for April 2015
Day 1 10 Apr
Delhi - Guwahati
Arriving at noon
Stay over at Guwahati.
Day 2 11 Apr
Guwahati - Tezpur – Dirang
Stay over at Dirang
Day 3 12 Apr
Dirang - Tawang
Visit Dirang, War Cemetery, Sela Pass.
Day 4 13 Apr
Tawang
Visit Tawang Monastery, Jaswant Garh, Namgye Lhaste, PT Tso, Gorsham Chorten, Gontse Garden, Singar Ani Gompa, Gorichen Peak, Nuranag Waterfall
Stay over at Tawang
Day 5 14 Apr
Tawang- Bum La Pass - Tawang
Day 6 15 Apr
Tawang - Bomdila
Stay over at Bomdila
Day 7 16 Apr
Bomdila - Kaziranga
Arrive Kaziranga National Park.
Stay over.
Day 8 17 Apr
Kaziranga National Park - Shillong
Elephant Safari and Jeep Safari
Stay over at Shillong
Day 9 18 Apr
Shillong
Don Bosco Center, Umium Lake, Elephant Falls, Shillong View Point, Ward’s Lake, Police Bazaar, Air Force Museum, Khasi Heritage Village,
Khasi Food, Cafe Shillong, Tibet Kitchen Restaurant, Heritage Cafe @ Tripura Castle
Stay over at Shillong or Mawlyngbna
Day 10 19 Apr
Shillong – Cherrapunji - Mawlynnong
Visit Caves at Mawsmai in Cherrapunji, Nohkalikai Waterfalls, Mawlynnong Waterfall, Lailum Canyons.
Visit Root tree bridges, Umkhakoi Small Multipurpose Reservoirs for kayaking
Stay over at Mawlynnong
Day 11 20 Apr
Mawlynnong – Guwahati – Siliguri/New Jalpaiguri
Leave same day to Siliguri/New Jalpaiguri via Train from Guwahati in the evening or night
Day 12 21 Apr
Siliguri/New Jalpaiguri - Gangtok
Arrive Siliguri/New Jalpaiguri in the morning.
Travel to Gangtok
Coronation Bridge, Hong Kong Market, Drive to Gangtok.
Stay over at Gangtok.
Day 13 22 Apr
Gangtok - Nathu La Pass - Gangtok
Visit the China border.
Way back visit Tsong Mo Lake, Yak Safari, Gangtok Ropeway.
Stay over at Gangtok.
Day 14 23 Apr
Gangtok - Lachung & Lachen
Tashi View Point Kabi Lungstok, Naga Waterfall, Chungthang
Arrive Lachung
Day 15 24 Apr
Lachung & Lachen
Lachung Monastery, Lachen, Gurudongmar Lake, Chopta Valley
Stay over at Lachung/Lachen
Day 16 25 Apr
Lachung - Gangtok
Zero Point, Yumthang Valley,
Back to Gangtok
Rumtek Monastery, Sikkim Zoo, MG Road, Cafe Fiction, Rendezvouz Hotel.
Stay over at Gangtok.
Day 17 26 Apr
Gangtok – Siliguri
Visit places in and around Siliguri.
Stay over at Siliguri.
Day 18 27 Apr
Return to Guwahati
Visit places in and around Guwahati.
Day 19 28 Apr
Guwahati – Delhi
Since this is the first time we are venturing out it to this part of India, it would great if anyone can drop in some suggestions on places to stay, visit, cuisines and food to try, what to carry with you, things to avoid or any changes that I could make to this itinerary and anything that could make this an even better experience.
We want to go on a low to medium budget
Also if anyone is planning a trip around the same time, feel free to join.
