The holy month of Ramadan is finally her. Ramadan also known as Ramzan is the ninth month in the Islamic calendar which includes 12 months and lasts for about 354 days. During the entire auspicious month, Muslims around the world observe rigorous fast and focus on prayers, donating (zakaat). It is said that Ramadan is one of the holiest month in the Islamic year as it commemorates the Quran – first verses were revealed to the Prophet Muhammad by Allah. People greet each other on this auspicious day. Some people recite the entire Quran and try to finish it by the end of Ramadan. The holy month will begin from 6th June, 2016 Monday and will end with Eid in July. The word ‘Ramadan’ has been derived from an Arabic word which means shortness of food and drink. The month usually begins with a new moon sighting which marks the start of the ninth month and from that time onward Muslims are abstain from food, drinks, and all such activities which are prohibited during this period.
