Good evening folks, join us for the live updates and scores as Chennaiyin FC clashes with Delhi Dynamos FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai on Thursday evening and the match will be shown on the Star Sports network. It will begin at 7 pm IST on 6-10-2016.

The Chennai club waged a neck to neck battle against Atlético de Kolkata as their previous match ended in a 2 – 2 draw. Chennaiyin FC is still looking to register first win. They  will be playing their first home match of the season. Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s side has strong defensive structure and marquee player John Arne Riise will be the pivot of Materazzi’s plans at the heart of defence. Riise played for Delhi Dynamos last year. Chennaiyin FC will be still be missing the services of Dhanachandra Singh who got himself injured during pre-season training and will be depending on their midfield duo of Raphael Augusto and Rane.

“We are the defending champions and I would rather have this pressure than be obsessed about winning the league. If you keep on training hard, you see the results. We don’t have Stiven Mendoza who can score by himself but we have shown that anybody can score.” – Chennaiyin FC head coach Marco Materazzi

On the other hand, Delhi Dynamos will open their Indian Super League football campaign against defending champions Chennaiyin FC on Thursday, 6-10-2016. Team will be managed by new head coach Italian World Cup winner Gianluca Zambrotta. He will be banking on his marquee player Florent Malouda, interestingly one of the members of French team that lost to Italy in the 2006 World Cup final, to deliver the goods.  Zambrotta  will face up to his close friend and 2006 World Cup winning team-mate Marco Materzzi at the Chennaiyin dug-out at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, today. ALSO READ: ISL 2016 Schedule, Timetable, Fixture, TV Listings, Venues & timings of Indian Super League

Even though Delhi had a poor first season, they made it to the semi-finals last year under Brazilian World Cup winner Roberto Carlos only to lose 1-3 on aggregate to FC Goa. Delhi Dynamos will play today’s match  without their stars Alwyn George and Malswamzuala, who will continue their AFC Cup journey with Bengaluru FC.

“Italian football is not about catenaccio alone. It is also about offence and defence working in tandem. This is the philosophy that I want to bring to Delhi Dynamos as well — how to defend with 11 players and also attack with 11 men.” – Delhi Dynamos head coach Gianluca Zambrotta
