It has rather been an eventful week in the glamour industry, especially with Salman Khan grabbing headlines for the verdict of his hit-and-run case. Also in the news had been Deepika Padukone for the release of her film Piku, and Sunny Leone for Kuch Kuch Locha Hai (KKLH). But the most shocking were Salman’s bail and the allegations of sexual abuse on choreographer Shiamak Davar. And also, Ranbir Kapoor declaring his marriage plans with Katrina Kaif! Read on:
1) Salman Khan 2002 hit-and-run case: Salman is now a free man!
In a major relief to Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, the Bombay High Court, while admitting his appeal, on May 8 suspended his five-year jail sentence in a 2002 hit-and-run case that killed a man, paving the way for Salman to secure regular bail. Special Public Prosecutor Pradeep Gharat said Justice A M Thipsay directed Salman to furnish a fresh bail bond of Rs 30,000 to the Mumbai Sessions Court. Later on Friday evening, Salman, accompanied by his team of lawyers, reached south Mumbai and surrendered before the Mumbai Sessions Court. He furnished the required bail bond and returned home. The interim bail granted to the actor by the High Court two days ago has been extended. He will not be taken into custody pending disposal of his appeal against the lower court judgement, Gharat told the media. As thousands of his fans celebrated, Bollywood celebrities expressed joy that the Dabangg star had got his freedom.
2) Deepika Padukone’s Piku overpowers Sunny Leone’s Kuch Kuch Locha Hai at the box office:
The week that has just gone by saw the release of two hyped films of the year, Piku and Kuch Kuch Locha Hai. The Sunny Leone starrer KKLH which also stars TV actor Ram Kapoor is a sex comedy while Piku is a family drama. The story of Sunny’s latest is stupid and stale. Undoubtedly megastar Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone’s Piku won a million hearts. Bollywood stars and fans have been raving about the film and how!
Piku that also stars Irrfan Khan is a slice-of-life drama by none other than Shoojit Sarkar. It tackles the “basic” truths with candour and humour. It portrays a dysfunctional Bengali family to the core. Based in Delhi’s Chittaranjan Park, Bhaskor Banerjee (Amitabh Bachchan) is a grumpy, health-obsessed septuagenarian, who constantly fears that he is “critical” with issues relating to his bowel movements or the lack of it. He suffers from chronic constipation and his life solely revolves around his defecation. This leads his daughter Piku (Deepika Padukone) to sacrifice her personal life to take care of her ageing father. She is largely tolerant and indulges most of his idiosyncrasies. So much so, that she willingly agrees to a road journey from Delhi to Kolkata when he insists he wants to visit his ancestral place. Well, clearly, Deepika’s Piku will beat Sunny Leone’s Kuch Kuch Locha Hai at the box office!
3) Ranbir Kapoor confirms marrying Katrina Kaif in 2016!
For all the Ranbir Kapoor fans, here is a bad news! The Saawariya actor has confirmed that he IS getting married by the end of next year! Ranbir has confessed to being in a relationship with Katrina Kaif and the two will soon tie the knot in 2016. Ranbir Kapoor in an exclusive interview to Ananda Bazar Patrika has revealed, “This year both of us are extremely busy, so there won’t be any time for the marriage. 4) Shiamak Davar sued for alleged sexual abuse!
Ace choreographer Shiamak Davar is in big trouble, it seems! Two former dance students of Shiamak, Percy Shroff, 40, and Jimmy Mistry, 33, have alleged that Shiamak is a sexually abusive and controlling leader of a sect called VRRP Spiritual Learning group. PErcy and Jimmy, both of North Vancouver, say they endured years of unwanted sexual touching at the hands of Shiamak, who they say, abused his authority as their spiritual leader to control all aspects of their lives, reports cbc.ca. 5) Deepika Padukone breaks her silence on My Choice video – finally!
Deepika Padukone’s My Choice video has been the talk of the town since a while now. If you were wondering as to why the actress hadn’t said anything with regards to the numerous controversies coming out of it, here is something you’d want to know. The Piku actress has finally broken her silence over the widespread criticism she received over the video and gave her opinion.
