There was much anger among Indian sportspersons when Bollywood superstar Salman Khan was appointed the Rio Olympics 2016 Goodwill Ambassador, and many of them, like Yogeshwar Dutt, had taken to Twitter to express their dismay. However, some players stood by Salman and so did the Indian Olympic Association. In fact, the actor’s ex-girlfriend Mrs Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had also at an event for her film Sarbjit said that there was nothing wrong in having Salman Khan as India’s Goodwill Ambassador for Rio Olympics 2016. Now, that was quite a surprise. (ALSO READ: Rio Olympics 2016: Salman Khan gets real Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s support as goodwill ambassador! Actor himself justifies his appointment – Video)

Well, Rio Olympics 2016 has begun already, and we saw no sign of Salman Khan there. Forget being at the opening ceremony, the Sultan actor was not even seen in any of the sporting events or matches to cheer India or simply watch a bout or a run. But it still came as a shocker to journalists when Salman Khan at an event in Mumbai was struggling to get the name of India’s prized gymnast Dipa Karmakar right! “I thought it was…was it Deepika? I thought she was going to win gold but she came eighth, no? Oh, yeah, Deepti!” the actor said.

The actor was apparently answering a question on Rio Olympics 2016 at an event to launch the trailer of his film on golf, titled Freaky Ali. It is indeed a shame, because Dipa Karmakar has made India proud by reaching the finals at the Rio Olympics 2016. Salman Khan had also been sharing profiles of Indian players going to the Rio Olympics 2016, on his Twitter and Instagram pages. Clearly it was his team doing it and not him! But let’s give Salman the benefit of the doubt – maybe he was talking about India archer Deepika Kumari! Watch this video and tell us if Salman Khan has indeed made a mistake!
